    Last evening we were treated to Taj's great trio...unbelievable funkiness!!!
    I was trying to explain his use of the National, metal bodied resonator to a friend, mentioning Taj's Caribbean roots & the guitar's Hawaiian connection. Both their Rising Son bond, was also mentioned...

      John Ford Wow, someone knows their music history. Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder did indeed form a band called Rising sons when both were in their late teens early twenties. As far as I know they only released one album which is quite hard to get hold of, before going on to other wonderful things.

    • @goodun6081
      @goodun6081 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hamish Urquhart, the Taj Mahal/ Ry Cooder electric slide guitar arrangement of Statesboro Blues from the Rising Sons album is said to be the reason that Duane Allman arranged and played Statesboro Blues with The Allman Brothers.

    • @Mooseman327
      @Mooseman327 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Tim McCarthy Yeah, this is the PA mix, not the recording mix. Ry's amp is all that's need for the hall so his guitar is not going through the PA board or speakers.

    • @antares727
      @antares727 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the video is called "Ry Cooder in Nashville" and the overall video and sound quality is much better -- so maybe this will help and maybe the sound man will redeem some of his value... Ry Cooder's guitar is unlike any other and the tone/sound is unique so some of his playing gets lost in the background (sorry for that)
