Aside from the introduction of the athletes in boats in Paris, France🇫🇷 and hosting Olympic suffering in french overseas territories. This opening from Greece 🇬🇷 seems like it's much better than then the opening of the Paris Olympics.
This was the best one. The one that made the most sense, and the one that felt like it actually honored the history of Olympics and why we even still do them today. 😊

For me, this is the Best Olympics Opening Ceremony, Beijing is a close second. This is pure art and they were able to show their thousands of years of history in a single sequence , it is just amazing, kudos to Greece.
I think low-key the London Olympics opening is better than Beijing - a great blend of British history through the Industrial Revolution performance and pop culture such as Mr. Bean, Spice Girls, One Direction. Appeals more to everyone IMO
I still remember that on that day, I skipped class to stay home and watch the opening ceremony. To this day, it has been the most eloquent, profound and beautiful ceremony ever done.
Because it shows respects, its original culture and ROOTS from where it all began! Absolutely stunning. Except that ancient greek statues (that they try to portrait here) from marble or stone were very heavily coloured at those ancient days. We just see them white because all colours faded away with so much time passed. Same with ancient Roman statues.

Every Olympics they travel to Greece to light the torch, they make their way through mountains, snow, rivers, air and all to have that be lit by the flames that lit the first ever Olympics.
My brother had the privilege to run with the torch on the way to Sydney back in 2000. It was awesome. Ian has done much for sport in the small community he lived in and was rewarded with that experience. That sequence in the Athens opening ceremony was so elegantly done.
In fact it's one of the most beautiful pieces of filmed art I've ever seen. Dignity, grace and tragedy. It nearly bankrupted Greece. THIS should have been when we finally gave her her treasures back.
