My uncle was one of the drivetrain engineers of the first Viper. He took me for a ride in a prototype when I was a kid. Felt like the bat mobile. We lived right near the Chrysler HQ.
Here’s a quick story for you Ed, back in the 90s and early 2000s I had an uncle that was head of Chrysler division my other uncle out here in California really wanted an SRT 8 300… this car back in 2006 was pretty hot so my said Uncle was able to get his hands on the SRT at that time Chrysler was allowing you to take your car and track it at the nearest track which happens to be for us Searspoint. My uncle shows up with his SRT8 he’s the only one there everybody else was vipers they came up to my uncle and said ” hey stay out of our way we’re gonna be a lot faster than you” well they didn’t realize my uncle used to race Trans Am😅 my uncle was right up there with them at Searspoint, all the viper guys couldn’t believe it!

I had the 1/43 die cast Viper as a kid. It was the coolest car. Completely pointless as a Brit with our tiny roads, and apparently a bit dangerous, but I still love it.
2nd video reminds me of a when I bought my first car a 1979 Mustang Indy Pace Car 5.0 4 speed. It was my escape from my overbearing mom. It had been raced in the SCCA showroom stock series class A when it was new. It had been thoroughly abused by the time I got it so I had to keep fixing things or paying to fix it. UNTIL, it had an engine fire. Insurance company dragged me through the weeds only paying for half fixes. I finally put it up for sale which took about 6 months to finally happen. The moment that someone was actually buying it I was giddy to finally get this chapter in my life over.
In the early 90's (when I was a teenager) I worked for a dork that named his business "viper motors" although he sold regular used cars, got into Harleys, and actually did have a cool 69 pro stock camaro, but I got it (like Wayne Carini) calling his business F40 lmao :D

That family had so much money that at the end of Fourth of July, there would just be fireworks, scattered all over the front of their property. I would regularly perform cleanup duties just so I would have the opportunity to harvest their ‘leftovers’ good times.

The Viper running in GTS Class at LeMans and GTS Class in the American LeMans Series confirms Its "Race Creds." The Ford GT ran in GT1 at LeMans and in the FIA GT1 Championship and won the GT3 Team Championship. They've both done quite well in different classes.
I remember a few years ago you could find them sub 40k. When I finally was in a position to have a play car (viper) the prices skyrocketed. Soooo I had to settle for something different.
It honestly sounded like the one Canadian that was supposed to export the car never did the paperwork nor wanted to do so even though they knew how to do so. On top of that, it sounds like they kept sending the wire transfers back on purpose giving the buyer the run-around. Over-all, I doubt that is anyone who is someone worth doing business with or provides any kind of customer support.
The first several generations of Viper were just absolutely insane, murderous cars. You couldn't keep them in a straight line under heavy acceleration because the back stepped out and the tires spun. Which, in its own way, was exactly what Americans wanted. It was a true muscle car. And it wanted to kill you. The last model they made was a lot more competent as a sports car and handled well, had plenty of power to smoke the tires, but was able to be driven with a measure of control. I also found it to be the most beautiful version. A shame they killed it off. Expect its value to hold steady a bit longer then increase in value over time as people regret that they didn't buy enough of them for Chrysler to consider keeping it.

I painted a guys house in 2021 near Dublin ohio., never thought anything about it but his daughter had a 750hp BMW x5, his wife had a gorgeous m3, although his girls had bmw's he was a prorsche guy, I remember he just got a gt3, it was orange and I lost it knowing he had it, he's a regular at mid ohio and he treated me to breakfast and a cars and coffee meet. We connected very well and i lost contact unfortunately. I wish I could reconnect with him..if anyone knows a dude that's vip at mid ohio who has a race ready gt3 and a daughter with a x5 he also had a 944,,near Dublin please message me.
i do love the viper but it was pre bugatti veyron, the viper was impressive with no abs no traction control i get those that love those vipers, but considering the tech marvel of the veyron at the time it did seem a bit stone mason, even now a 1300hp underground viper couldnt get upto such great speed like the veyron and as quickly.
