  • Christianity: The Journey of Following Jesus in the Real World l Kevin Gurley
Metaphor was the language of Jesus when revealing the mysteries of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God unveiled by Jesus was always, “…..it is like”. The same is true for C.S. Lewis when he revealed to us Aslan; “he is like……Jesus”. In his book ‘The Final Battle’ from the series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Lewis conveys that Aslan (Jesus) is not tamed, not safe, but always good. Very good! It is the goodness of God found in Christ that is dangerous. His goodness is dangerous to our certainties, our dogmas, and our perspectives of culture, nations, races, politics, values, and truths. The further we go up and in with Jesus the more our long held cultural ideas will be challenged by the kingdom of Christ! Will we step out of our ‘stable’ place and pledge allegiance to ‘the way of the Lamb’?
