The light it came with works great in the dark. The only thing that I had problems with is the depth droppers clasp is really weak and it wouldn't stay on the hook unless you threaded the hook through the springs
*These work with rod and reel or tip ups **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s good for keeping snow out of the hole and to greatly slow hole freezing. They are not heavy so need to be held down by tip up or some snow/ice shavings if windy. Have not had them freeze down even when placed in wet ice shavings.*
Glad you release and follow the rules. I live in a sub division that has some nice Bass fishing ponds. They are catch and release. Some people don’t release, and it’s irritating!
20# fluro is substituted for a leader i guess, a little light for my liking, prefer at least 40, but if you don't horse em its doable. Not setting the hook with a six foot rod allows you to size down on the leader.
Nothing outfish live baits ... I miss the good old days 🙄 not permited in Quebec no more . We use to cath monster walleyes , pikes and muskies on big golden shinners . Now we are allowed dead minnows in the winter only .
Yes people question the regulations as they should. Agree or not on the basic premise, there's always more to learn about the situation that you will only learn if you question the choices of our elected officials.

No live bait in Alberta either. I'm still fairly successful with a treble hook and a chunk of sardine or smelt -- no need to use the whole fish.
