I tried listening to other visual kei bands but could never get into them. None of them had the same kind of musicality or showmanship that Gackt-lead Malice Mizer did.

While several people have disagreed with you, i very much agree with the notion that it sounds like eastern european music... but not folk specifically. Personally I'd compare it to estrade music or what people over here in Bulgaria call "old city songs" personally - I just know my grandma would absolutely be jamming to this song

The lyrics combined with the video makes such a sad under meaning. The dolls probably symbolize two lovers who never got to dance their last dance, until that very "last night" that is. It makes me sentimental because it reminds me of some nordic folk tales I've read as a child. I used to play this song for my friend who didn't really understand the lyrics until he looked them up. He said: "I feel so sad for the clown... And the princess... All of them to be honest. I hate that I do, but I do."
