    I really enjoy my d5600 as a travel camera, as I tend to leave heavy full-frame cameras at home. I think the advantage to it over the d3400, besides the ISO performance and auto-focus system, is the touch screen. Both cameras have a lack of dedicated buttons and dials on the camera body, so the touch screen really helps give the user more control (more quickly) over the camera. So if you generally shoot manual, or like the idea of having more control over the camera, you might like to have quick access to the touch screen. Otherwise save your cash for good DX lenses and buy the 3400.

    Great video - reinforced my decision to upgrade.
    I am new to photography and started with the D3400 in August. Three months later, I switched the D5600. The 5600 has many features I find well worth the additional money, particularly the wi-fi and built-in time lapse. I found the menu system to be more encompassing and easier to use. I also found the button locations easier to use. The additional buttons and accessory port are very useful.

    I’ve been wanting to upgrade my current Nikon for a while now. I’ve looked into the Cannon brand cameras and like a lot of the features. I do however have a slew of Nikkor lenses on hand so I was wanting to stay with the Nikon brand. This video clenched that choice. The D5600 looks like a good mid level DSLR.
    Thanks for the review.

    Hi Again , and thanks for the content, I always find it relaxing and educational and I absolutely love your style also, with that being said how would you compare this camera against the Sony A6000 ? And why would you choose one over other. Regards Bob.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the post/feedback/question:). I have shot with both and would give the edge to the 5600 keeping in mind these are apples and oranges (meaning mirror vs mirrorless). Sony has done a great job with mirrorless technology - the a6000 has MANY more focal points which are great for tracking moving subjects (the edge for tracking moving subjects goes to the a6000), however the d5600 will not overheat like the a6000 (the a6000 will overheat when shooting video for more than 10 mins, etc.), the d5600 has a much better battery life, and Nikon removed the AA filter (anti-aliasing filter which tends to soften images). In addition, I like that Nikon includes a built-in time lapse feature which is nice along with a full rotating touch screen which is nice:).

      Duy Pham If you're looking for ISO performance, get the Nikon D5500! It's cheaper than the D5600 but is exactly the same. I even think they pulled out some features in the D5600. The D5500 is the best-performing crop sensor in low light (along with the D7200). It can't be beat!

    Two notes: The battery life of the D3400 stems from its lower flash power. The D5600 does not consume more energy, it just has a more powerful flash which takes more juice.
    And the D3400 has 11 focus points, not 9 :)

    Which one is better D5600 vs D7100 for portrait photography?

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They both share the same size sensor and will be relatively similar regarding image quality. A couple of notes of difference between the cameras ... 1 - the D7100 has auto focus built into the body of the camera (the D5600 does not). The major advantage to this is that you can use lenses that do not have auto focus built into the lens. 2 - the D7100 is weather sealed and feels solid/heavy compared to the D5600. I have shot with both the 5000 series and 7000 series ... they are both solid in my opinion:).

  • @dronewolf8278

    I love my D5600. Ditch the kit lens, and invest in some nice glass. I use the following lenses with my d5600 (Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 17-70, Nikon 40mm, Nikon 35mm and Nikon 70-300mm). Each of these lenses are enormous upgrades over the kit lens, and each offer the flexibility to support what you’re trying to capture. Make no mistake, with the proper lenses and post production in Lightroom, you can capture and create professional images with this camera. I frequently do family portrait sessions, and produce top-end work for my clients.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahhhhh yes, the Sigma 10-20 is solid along with the others posted although I have not used the sigma 17-70:). Nonetheless, glass plays an important role. I found the kit lenses to be surprising good though:).

    Good information.
    I have been using the D3400 since before Christmas 2017. I so far have no issues with it. I too would rather get down on the ground to shoot the low shots. The articulating screen for me is not a necessity. Even with only the nine sensors I have used it with the 5 fps and it has kept focus very well overall. I did a photo shoot this weekend and forgot to change back to single shot and just rolled with it and I did end up with over 500 shots, so you definitely need to watch that. I have been very happy with the D3400 so far. (I really wanted the D800 or 850 but just couldn't quite make the budget fit for that).
    Keep your video reviews and how to's coming. I find you very informative, thorough, and easy to watch.

      Thanks for the post and welcome to the world of photography!:) The decision really boils down to a rotating touch screen, more focal points, and time lapse. resulting image quality is nearly the same in my opinion. If you have a bit more in your budget, you might lean towards the D5600 providing you are interested in the extra features. If you want to save money and retain the same image quality, consider the D3400 ... just my two cents:).

    Great video and love the soundtracks,I have just watched your video on the canon 750D also which I also enjoyed,I am a little envious as I actually bought this Nikon camera for my son as a Christmas gift 2 years ago and I am still using my old Canon 600 D T3i in the States I believe, perhaps it's time to be good to me once again,I like to shoot wildlife mainly and the Canon 850D looks pretty good but so does the Canon 90 D for not much more.

    I've the older D5100, which fell into a stream with me a number of years ago. This was thankfully repaired and now lives in my car boot or trunk (as you call it) with a 16-85mm lens plus filters that I don't need for my other set up. It's brilliant to have on hand just in case. I also love the fact that it has the fully articulated screen - helpful to people with back problems like me. I feel that the newer D5600 is a much cheaper and more useful alternative to the mirrorless Z50 and if you have already got some lenses your winning - no need for an adapter (which defeats the point)🎅🏽👍

    I was comparing between the canon t7i and the nikon d5600 based on these two videos, I have decided to go with the nikon d5600. Ive been seeing bundles online and i decided on the nikon because it was a little cheaper than the canon and i dont want to break the bank. I also picked the nikon because it comes with a 70- 300mm lens compared to the canon which doesnt. It separated it from being an affordable camera to being expensive. Thank you!

    This is a great review!!! I am a professional photographer who recently upgraded from the D5300 to the D5500 for my work, and I have to say that there is a noticeable improvement. The ISO performance of the D5500 is insanely good and is close to that of the D750. I'm guessing the D5600 would be roughly the same. About the weather sealing, I think it's more of a gimmick than not. I've shot in the pouring rain with the D5500 and had no issues. All cameras are sealed but the weather-sealed bodies are constructed with magnesium alloy for extra shock and dust resistance.

    • @roninr8199
      @roninr8199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Osase Noma-Owens are you serious about comparing with d750? Technically you can't compare fx with dx. At what level is the maximum iso d5600 can go which has no noise.

    • @osasenoma-owens5072
      @osasenoma-owens5072 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ronin R I'm very serious. There's nothing like that; of course you can compare them! Sure you get a larger field of view on the D750, but the ISO performances are pretty close (I've used both). The D5500 is said to perform better than the D5600 on paper (but the actual differences may be minimal). I've found that I can shoot at ISO 6400 without visible noise (on the RAW file) and ISO 25600 images are usable for non professional work. I only see noise at about ISO 12800, and it's not that bad; it's more like film grain. You may check my Instagram account for some samples @nimashotme

    Thanks Mark. I have decided to upgrade from the D3300 to the D5600 purely as I like the built-in time lapse and a fully articulating touch screen. I did look at higher models but the fully articulating touch screen beat the models were the screen just pulls out at an angle. I ordered from e-infin.com and got a D5600 Digital SLR Camera + AF-S 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens for GBP £519.00 (681.11 USD) which includes delivery which was a better price than buying secondhand. Many do not think about the weight but you have a good/valuable point. At first, one might think an extra pound or two is not a big deal but wait until you carry it throughout the day:).
