When he says "there is only one difference between a flat serve and a slice serve", he is incorrect. The swing path is also different. For a right handed serve, the flat serve swing path is more through the ball with only a few degrees of L to R. For a slice serve, the swing path is several degrees more to the Right. In other words, you are swing more across the ball for a slice serve and less through the ball. There are videos showing pros serving from behind and you can see the slice serve swing path goes more to the right. I know he's coached high level pros but honestly, a lot of his advice is not great.

He is such a shitty coach usually but this time he is right. This is a very important tip. When you try to serve out wide with slice serve, the swing patch has to be same as the flat T zone serve. Because the path of the ball is determined by the racket face at the very contact moment. If the racket face is toward the side while the swing path to side, then this is a wide FLAT serve. To make it slice serve to wide, the swing path has to be toward to T while facing it to out wide.
