    Man, it's really nice to just hear you talk about whatever while the water drains.. Can't really explain why, but I think it's nice when you show the water level going down

    We have youtubers out there “I’m funny and I quit my job to do TH-cam full time, please donate to my patreon so I don’t have to go out and get a real job.” And then there’s post 10 who is out unclogging culverts with out proper safety equipment and people are begging him to set up a patreon so we can donate to him so he can be safe but just keeps going out and doing it anyway.

      I work on the railroad and people don't realize that this type of thing can save our lives. Floods are the worst 👍

    That broom is a railroad switch broom. It is used for cleaning switches of snow and ice.

      Brandon Church If the debris is left it can cause much worse damage then a short surge of water. More people should be thanking him, he is a good citizen/human! I like that his hobby also saves the tax payers money. City/state repair lists are never ending.

    That granite tunnel fronted by the concrete is wonderful. And just think if you didn’t go to clean it out nobody would ever see it or remember it and the beauty it shows would be forgotten.

    Those style brooms are super common around the railroad. The metal spike on the end is good for chipping ice out of switches.

    I love how this is a hobby.
    Following a motor vehicle accident, I am no longer physical to how I used to be.
    I was a cabinet maker and also a slaughter man. Now I a desk accountant.
    I havey physio and gym time (before corona) but seeing these things, makes me feel great.
    I am considering doing this for fun as well, but sadly, I live in Australia so water and rain is very limited.
    Might have to find something else. Cheers mate

    I've been binge watching your older unclogging videos, and found this one (and the one before it) that I had never seen. This blockage looks as though it may have started as a beaver dam, and then a torrential rain may have floated the larger logs over. Great video!

    I'm glad you found that prybar combo. For some time I was wondering if you were ever going to acquire one. It looks to have good heft to it as well. Here's a thought... Keep a length of rope in your car, unless you already have one there. It ban be used to pull on a large branch from a better footing if pulling by hand is giving you too much grief.

    Agreed on virtually all your points - a) this *should* have been done and b) can't believe it wasn't done! >.<
    The culvert was put in place for a reason. Let's not second guess the engineers. You are doing an admirable service 😊 There is no need to second guess yourself. 😊
    Awesome video btw. I *did* wonder how much water was being held back. And when you panned backwards ... LOL. Yup. This was a previous beaver dam. No wonder it was such a big job.
    It must have been _very_ satisfying 😁 ... I could tell when you took the shovel to the remainder of the dam.

    The broom you found is a switch broom for cleaning snow, ice and debris out of railroad track switch points. A lot of times they were carried in cabooses and on locomotives.

    oh thank god you came back to shovel the mound of cobbed up dirt off of the culvert entrance. was giving me anxiety, even though the water flow would've eroded it away... eventually.

    oh, and hone your shovel! having it be nice and sharp makes root cutting a lot easier. ;)

    One wears boots for support around the ankles, you needed an axe to chop the left side dirt and roots, Boots also give one balance and stability when working, especially around loose footings--God Bless-in part two you were ready to work --tool wise

    You should invest in a come-along. You could use it to help you move the heavier stuff so you don’t hurt your back and can keep saving the East Coast from flooding.
