You forgot about Pres. Eyring - "As you place the peanut butter cup into your mouth, you will begin to get a taste of the chocolate on your tongue. This savory chocolate flavor will motivate you to bite further into the creamy peanut butter center. You will feel the urge to chew and savor the mixture of chocolate and peanut butter in your mouth as you continue to take further bites with the rest of the cup. This pattern will stay with you throughout your life." :-D
Thank you! I'm so glad someone shared the prophet's thoughts on it. The PROPHET knows how to live life. A lot of people seem to have the misunderstanding that we need to be super up-tight and call out every sinful-looking "offense," scribe-and-pharisee style.
You believe a random internet person just at face value? ...Wow. Okay well, just as a point anyone can claim anything. What is the likelihood that 1) They saw this video at all and 2) would tell a random institute leader about it?
carlotta4th you’re a random internet person. Now he/she is supposed to believe you at face value? Hey I’m not sure what’s lodged up your backside, but try to loosen up. Life is short. 🤦♂️
Elder Bednar: I pray that the Spirit conveys the thoughts and words of which I have prepared. In the Spring of 2006, I had the distinct privilege of addressing BYU Idaho Alumni & faculty. It was in the midst of this environment that I received a clear, unmistakable impression to consume a Reese's peanut butter cup. I immediately paused from my key note address and did so. What followed afterward was serendipitous and divinely merciful....the cup afforded me with fortitude; the wrapper imbued me with eternal gratitude....and the melting in the mouth of this extraordinary morsel of chocolate and peanut butter endowed me with spiritual enlightenment as only consistent, steady consumption of peanut butter cups can do. In the end, great spiritual traction culminates as the cup goes from a meager lump of chocolate to an elegant, elaborate conjoining of both chocolate and peanut butter--this parable of the peanut butter cup illustrates how we too can become spiritually metamorphosised.
You not only captured the voices quite well, but also the style of their talks. I'm not sure which is my favorite, but the way you did Thomas S. Monson's storytelling style is great: "Tommy! Did you know that Sis. Jensen, next door, hasn't eaten a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in yeeeeeaars?!" LOL!
I always remember this before conference comes around, and enjoy rewatching it. A bit bittersweet this time, with the passing of President Packer this summer, and Elder Scott just yesterday, but still a great way to brighten my day. :)
I'm getting too old for this sort of thing. "Close quote" almost gave me a heart attack. Still gasping and wiping my eyes. Jonathan Winters would be proud!
@@HMBRSTN Not really. His point is that offense WAS given (which isn't really the case) and is basically patting himself on the back for not getting offended at this.
This is honestly one of the funniest imitations of the apostles I've ever seen :) That was spot on, especially Pres. Monson, I loved hearing how they would eat a Reese's Cup. You really brought in the personality and how they relay talks, *cough cough* Uchtdorf, and brought them to life. Thank you for adding a little humor to our lives and I know that they would get a kick out of this, guarantee it!
I came to comment how I hadn’t seen this video in forever and it is still amazing and found my own comment from 10 years ago. Loved it then and love it now!
Literally one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched in my life! The various voice intonations, speed, breath pattern, vocabulary, and style were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! Thank you for helping me laugh so hard that I was genuinely crying so much!
I was busting up when it came to Pres. Monson. Way to go buddy. Not only were the voices great but you really did it with how they spoke! very impressed with your talent!
Just eat a chocolate sandwich, whole grain bread lightly toasted, butter, chocolate chips, melt for just a few seconds in the microwave. Or enjoy a nutella sandwich. YUMMY YUMMY 😋 😍 😜 😘 😊
This is so much better than the real General Conference. My favorites are how you mimic Packer and Oaks. Way too funny. Thanks for creating this masterpiece!
I shared this with plenty of people today when I first saw it. Instant classic! Very well done. This is something that I'm sure many LDS do to amuse themselves anyway, so I was glad to see it put into a video.
Wow! Amazing vocal talent! All of these men would love this, especially President Monson, I believe. Again, fabulous impressions! Thanks for updating this classic email and putting the voices with it. Loved it!
This is hysterical! I am so glad my husband shared this with me...now I can get to work making today's ward bulletin! Thank you so much for this truly clever and entertaining bit of imagination!
Greg, you did all the voices sir?! That was simply fantastic, especially the impressions of Elders Packer and Scott, and President Monson!!! And to everyone worried about sacrilege; by definition, it is irreverence towards that which is sacred. Greg hasn't taken a sacred topic and blasphemed it, he is simply sharing his talent of mimicking voices. He took a general topic to do it with, and even more amazing, talked about said topic after the mannerisms of those portrayed, and did so w/ respect.
That was funny Greg!!!! I read all the comments and they made me laugh.... Some people's underwear is to tight! It's not mocking the presidency! Who doesn't love a Reese's ! I loved how it made them seek so down to earth and like normal human beings. Now if this video was making fun of our beliefs that would be a different story! Personally I know Greg and he's an amazing kind loving guy. What agrarian tool to spread the gospel too!
Not only are the voice impressions and inflections marvelous, the real genius of this is THE SCRIPT! Every one of these apostles has a typical theme that they frequently speak about, or stories that repeated. To incorporate these themes around consumption of a candy is, I repeat, GENIUS. So funny....on so many levels. LOL!!!
The best part is how you've incorporated the "lip smack" pause that often happens with some of the older GA's. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time!
Love this! So good! I wasn't watching the pics just listening & trykng to guess which voices were which...got stuck on Elder Wirthlin because I haven't heard him speak since his passing...a while ago. Totally love all of them! Pres Monson's end quote was right on point. Great stuff.
oh, I love that this was done with sweet intentions. you have to have watched many a conference to make this. I loved this. I wish you could do one of me!!!
This is amazing! I loved it... Why did I find it so awesome? Because doing something where the message is completely secondary but standardized between multiple people helps recognize the speech styles and intricacies of the speakers. This video made me appreciate each of these mens' approach to life and their distinct voice!
“The morning breaks; the shadows flee;. Lo, my Reese's wrapper is unfurled!" -- (A bad version of Elder McConkie). Through the years young Elders have used such deliveries as their own sort of Memes. We all use cultural 'pull quotes' to liven things up and create a sort of communal belonging. By warmly using these we all share the same image of a much larger subject. If I use just one word, "Mawrrage", almost everyone here will recognize it and start to chuckle. On the other hand, familiarity breeds contempt. By becoming overly casual the line over which mocking may be crossed. Youth speakers particularly find themselves in this situation constantly; connecting with youth can lead to mocking. I for one don't think this crosses any line, but it could encourage others to one-up Greg. That's the way life has always been. In the end, we all decide for ourselves.
