  • MRI results confirmed what I thought was missed in the original scan. Luckily I did some rehab but in hindsight the 7 weeks off in summer should have been double that. If you had a sacral injury I'd make sure to double check the rest of pelvis. Osteitis pubis is a tough injury to shake off.
Atleast now I know why my mobility is restricted.
    The show must go on.

John, go and see a Sports Therapist / Chiropractor / Osteopath, who can get you back to running a lot quicker. I had groin issues (tendinitis hip joint) last year and was told my flexibility was pants, so he did some deep stretches and manipulations on my hips and deep tissue massage on tight muscles around the area. He also advised I did a lot of pre-run activations and hip mobility work before harder sessions / races. I've been learning how to do splits and it's really helping with my flexibility. I took 4 months off from running and used that time to do X-trainer and strength at the gym. I actually ended up losing a bit of weight. When I returned to running, it was still a bit achey but tolerable but had lost running fitness, however was able to make the start line and execution of London marathon with 11 weeks. Massage gun is OK but muscle scraping tool is a lot better especially on the quads where the pain circulates. Foam rolling regularly really helps too.

Hey cheers, I've been doing S&C and feel better already. I've took a week off and feel super fresh. Hopefully I can manage to stay on top of it, the long runs and sessions will tell a lot. Either way I'm going to Japan.

Osteitis pubis is tough to treat, I have never had it myself but have had sacroiliac joint disfunction. A chiro got me fixed up with that one. I was a distance runner but had a very weak core and could not even do a single hamstring bridge or hold a plank for 20 seconds. My runs would always start with a walk warm up then constant stopping in the first few kms to stretch. Now days I do a full on strength routine focusing on CORE, HAMMIES, GLUTES. & CALFS, I now feel so much stronger, no more struggling to get going on a run, no more achillies niggles or hamstring tendonopathy. Some runners get away with no strength work and some dont. I am no Physio but I can only tell you what worked for me. Good luck with it.

Thanks david, I got away with it for a long time but eventually it caught up with me. similar to yourself it was a struggle to get going the last few months but since I've been doing s&c the past 2 weeks I feel great. before I would run a double instead of gym but that's going to change from now on.

V interesting vlog sir, thanks for sharing. I found your channel as this week I was diagnosed with a sacral fracture and had all the same issues/symptoms leading up to it as yourself. Interestingly, my MRI also picked up mechanical ostitis pubis, as well as an acetabular labral tear. Leading up to the fracture I also had what I thought was a groin strain and the ostitis pubis was only picked up when I had the MRI on my pelvis and hip. I’ve been told 8 weeks no running and cross training only if there is no pain/discomfort. Feels like a long road back, but you’re journey and story at Chicago has certainly provided some hope so appreciate it sir. Wishing you all the best for Tokyo and your 6th star. I’m hoping to be fit enough to run Lon in April for me own 6th star, but seems it’ll be touch and go depending on the recovery, let’s hope my journey back is as quick as your own!🤞🏻💪🏻

Hey Hope all is well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm cycled a lot when I was out.and did lots of TRX stuff. Let the body guide you. A few weeks off is not the end of the world. It made me really fresh, which is something I didn't feel for a long time and that's probably why I ran so well in Chicago. Embrace the recovery and atleast you have a diagnosis so you can start the road to recovery.

@@limerickrunning really appreciate that sir! It’s been a tough one to take mentally and physically, but I’m taking inspiration from your journey back to fitness so thanks again from sharing it and all the best for the rest of your Tokyo build. It’s a great course, even if the crowds are a lot quieter than the other majors, but if you’re only going out there a day or two before, the jet lag combined with the pre race maranoia is a killer!🤣
