I"m really impressed that someone from your generation so quickly understood the expression " you should have seen it in color " - was another way of saying " you can't really appreciate the picture unless you were there". I was born in the late 60's - at the end of the black and white film era. Growing up in the 70's the expression "you should have seen it in color" was quite often heard by me ... but as I got older it faded from common vocabulary. When this song came out ... it was the first time I'd heard the expression since I was in school. Great reaction man.
This song hit me like a brick when I first heard it. As a veteran and a husband myself I like to think I can relate. But our generation will never know what they went through on another note, I hate most mainstream country today. But every once in a while, a good one comes along.
Nice review! Want another banger in country? I know you will love Brooks and Dunn's #1 song of the year called. "Believe". True story of lead singer. Legendary song my friend. George
Man, this song should remind all of you who are still lucky enough to have your grandparents around, go talk to them and ask them to tell you about the "good old days" because once they are gone those stories are also gone forever.
Good reaction.. I interpreted the song as..even though the pictures were black and white, then turned to color.. I think he's saying, what ever you see in the picture? You can't imagine what was really happening?? A picture can tell a 1000 words.....🎶❤
I think you basically got the message, doesn’t matter if it’s color or not, sometimes you just had to be there to understand it. There’s a picture of me in Iraq (very much in color), and they all think it’s cool because I’m in uniform and looking all relaxed by the flag… I was not relaxed at all. I remember when my buddy took the picture and there’s a ton of context. Had to be there to understand it, I could write pages about that one picture, and it still wouldn’t explain it. Some pictures are simple and some are just impossible to explain. Looks like a soldier relaxing, having a smoke, in a safe space, defending his country… nope. But my mom still has it up on the wall in her house; she does not want the context and I ain’t giving it. Had to see it to believe it, that hour or so sucked.
You also need to listen to his song "Lead Me Home". I like that they tell story's and you can almost picture yourself there. He's a heck of a singer And songwriter.
Mr. Deondre, wado for your Reaction to this video, Jamey Johnson “In Color”, it IS a beautiful song. IF you do ANY Christmas videos, would you Please do a Reaction video for: Sandy Parker singing “A Baby Changes Everything”. P.S. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family members.
What an interesting perspective as someone older who has seen photos transition from black and white to color. Thank you. You gave me something to think about. "Old dog, new tricks".
It was a pretty huge hit. It is great but I don’t think it was under appreciated. And the fact that it goes to color in the end is part of the play on words. Double meaning.

Color makes it more real, more graphic.

Polly Ann’s hammer Our Native Daughters
So many miss the concept. They think he actually talking about a colored photograph. They miss the play on words.
