Maxxforce 7's really pack a lot of power when they reach top speed, I love the revving the engine makes. I read somewhere that the Maxxforce 7 puts all of it's engine's power and energy into driving and speed. Definitely a bus that packs a punch!
Some districts sued Navistar for faulty engines involving the Maxxforce 7. Similar lawsuits were filed with another maxxforce engine, the Maxxforce 13. Several trucking companies filed lawsuits against Navistar for those faulty engines. The Maxxforce 7 is way worse than it's predecessor the VT365, which was used prior to the 2007 EPA regulations change update. The VT365 was also used in Ford's Super Duty Pickups from the 2000's. Prior to the VT365, Ford used International's T444E Engine which like the VT365 was labeled as the Powerstroke. Here in my district brand new IC CE buses are using Maxxforce DT or other (even better) alternatives to the Maxxforce 7 (Possibly Cummins) rather than the Maxxforce 7. However, many other IC CE's still on the road are still using the Maxxforce 7 engine, which is the engine that is still in the majority of our buses right now. Only a tenth of the number of IC CE's in my district (Prior to 2007) even have the older (better) VT365 engine.
The Cummins is by far a better engine than the Maxxforce 7. My school recently (3-4 years ago) purchased 15 brand new IC buses with the Maxxforce 7 engines and almost every one of them has had both the turbo and transmission go out while the bus was on a route. Many of the other drivers have also had several other issues within the past few years. Even more recently we purchased 4 brand new IC buses with the Cummins engines and have had no major problems with any of the buses. The amount of money it cost to keep the Maxxforce 7 engines running is not worth the hassle.

I like both the Cummins and MaxxForce DT. But I think the MaxxForce DT would match better..
