You should send it back and do a follow up video to update us on the Klean Kanteen customer service!

This is interesting. I've read several reviews on Amazon for Nalgene stainless steel bottles and apparently they sometimes fail along the weld lines, also on that shoulder area of the bottle.
Haven't seen that on a Klean Kanteen yet.

The 40oz wide neck is a better design. I bought two, and got a couple of molle holders from Flyye Industries. I'd never drop one. We pay too much for things in AU to not take care. The lids only get done up picky finger tight, as the seal on the stainless edge won't take over-tightening to often. Gentle with them, and they will last a long time. The model in this video is the narrow neck design that is more prone to the split as demonstrated. They are fine if you don't drop them, and will take scrapes, bumps, and heat, but not a drop *when full* onto a hard surface. Maybe an alloy one may have more give in such an impact?

I'd recommend looking for the klean canteen bottles that do not have a rectangular indentation on the bottom. I noticed the difference in quality as I found on in a thrift store for $2 and immediately noticed the difference.

@@HNXMedia just an fyi, I thought I would weigh them and they were about the same. The newer one if anything was a few gram more so they are not made thinner or anything.

They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty, although how long a lifetime is I don’t know.

Yes, they are supposed top. I contacted teh company (Klean Kanteen) and they gave me the runaround. They said that since I could not prove where I bought it, that they would not warranty it.

Had been using my Klean Kanteen insulated 20oz since 2014. It was with me in many countries, climate, terrains etc .. dropped it on rocks, concrete .. yes it has marks because hell I do not go easy on it but not one single major damage. I am on youtube here because some scumbag stole mine last week at the gym and now I am checking their latest models ... So I suggest everyone indeed get in touch with their Customer Service. I am pretty sure they sort these out.

I contacted Klean and they would not honor any warranty since it was not bought directly from them. I purchased the bottle at an "Eco-Store" (that is long out of business) just outside Dayton, Ohio back around 2008. So much for buying local. Klean was absolutely unhelpful. I now use the lower section to melt aluminum in. At least it is good for something. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.

HNX Media sorry to hear that pal. I've been using the double layered 'insulated' ones so that might make a difference, but hope yours will be fine too ...

@@istvantoth7431 The double-layered ones are very nice. They do not "sweat" like the single wall I had. Thanks for the follow-up. Peace.

I keep finding them in the thrift stores here. I literally had 2 in my hands yesterday and thought I don't need to own 6 of them.

I think your bottle burst on a weld that has been polished

ive got three kleans i got the 40oz yesterday filled it up and it nearly slipped out of my hand twice because it was so heavy. thanks for the warning will hold the neck of the bottle from now on or both hands. i guess being a travel bottle they sacrifice other things for lightness.

I hope yours work well for you. I really loved mine for a long time before it split. I contacted Klean and they would not honor any warranty since it was not bought directly from them. Sad...the 40oz was a great size for traveling with smoothies. Namaste!

Cheap junk it’s a steel bottle, it should pass a drop test the plastic Nalgene are stronger and the steel Nalgene is probably twice as thick. Who buys a metal bottle to baby it?

  • @Shaker4x4

@@graham9060 As is everything. After COVID-19 the World is waking up to the fact we are all way, way, way too dependent on China. They are buying up everything, mass producing, and under-cutting prices with copied knock-offs. In many cases, quality control is sacrificed for cheaper, faster production. Unless a QC representative from a reputable company pays a premium for better production, and watches over that production, China will pump out more crap. We all need to make our products at home. To protect our food security, water, and manufacturing. Forget communist China. Trump wants to get America's cogs turning again. AU is fearful of losing ourselves to China. All our products, and premium fruit goes overseas, and shoppers here get inedible, or seconds. Baby formula to China is a problem too. One of our biggest AU companies producing baby formula was sold with a temporary condition attached. We're in real trouble. Chinese are taking over, and the World must stop giving them the means to.

@@Shaker4x4 I believe Kleen Kanteen do have a rep out their checking things. They do regularly go to their factory to make sure it running to their high standards. Issue is we value cost as much as we do where the product is made. You can't necessarily have both.
