Same here! 🎉 I’m a lifelong Iowa fan, alum and Iowa City native, so I was on the Caitlin bandwagon from the beginning, but I never thought I’d now be official as a Fever fan. 😂 I live near DC and already have VIP tickets to both of the Fever’s games here against the Mystics, including the last game of the season!
So many causal basketball fans (which is like 90% of fans)looking for a good enough reason to watch WNBA and now people will actually watch. WNBA hopefully stays advertising not only her but other large young women talent

Hopefully she makes the team. Usually a player taken so low in WNBA draft gets cut after camp.

And the rest of her team make nothing? The league does not generate enough revenue to justify the pay these athletes deserve...yet. If the WNBA csn obtain a more lucrative TV deal then the players salaries will take an exponential leap. Thats what Clark is aiming for. She wants ypto be the tide that raises all ships, not just the biggest boat in the harbor. The league sold tickets to their draft for the first time in their history and sold out in 15 minutes. I knew more girls in their draft then I know in the coming NBA draft and ive seen it many times with this being my first WNBA drsft. The future is bright for these athletes but everyone must be rowing in the same direction.

@@j317 they are about does not pay salaries. As if this season, the NBA continues to subsidize the WNBA. I want Clark and the other ahletes to paid what they deserve but I also understand it is a business. Merch and ticket sales helps but its the TV money that pays salaries.

@@j317 because its a business. You dont buy a business to lose money. If the business does not break even then why keep the doors open? The owner of the Indiana fever already owns the Indiana pacers in the NBA which already gives money to the WNBA to keep it afloat. These players are not forced to play in the WNBA. They can play in Europe or Asia. Clark was offered $5M to play in the Big3 but chose the WNBA instead.

I want to see the WNBA do well, but I fear the excitement won't follow now that she's not an "amateur" and now it's a pro sports game.
I also think it's funny when people think she'll make bank now as a pro. Her image being attached the the Iowa University brand and the NCAA brand is worth WAY MORE than her name attached to the Indiana Fever brand and the WNBA. For those who don't know, the WNBA has only 12 teams, half of which struggle to bring in 7000 fans per game. The Fever averaged 4000 fans per game last year. For sure that'll change this year, but how long will it take before it goes back down?
I'm not rooting for her to fail by any means, but I think too much weight is being put on her shoulders that's beyond her control. She can play lights out and I just don't think people will care about the WNBA after a few months.

Well several teams apparently did extremely well in the Draft. So how about talking that up as opposed to just this.
Few things to note here.
1. This show is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Home of the Fever.
2. Pat played for the Indianapolis Colts.
3. Another member is a big Iowa fan.
4. Caitlin is the draw. It has been proven in viewership. No one else is moving or has moved the needle. Caitlin is their Michael Jordan or Lebron James or Kobe Bryant or Steph Curry. They are the star that brings the attention. Without her, there wouldn’t be a segment because it doesn’t draw viewers. As much as it may hurt your feelings, it is smart business.
Pay needs to be reviewed ASAP.
How though? The WNBA has consistently lost money and the NBA already subsidizes them.
I'm not a hater and I actually think it's cool that the NBA basically pays the bills and keeps the lights on for the WNBA without getting anything back in return...but it feels like a lot to expect even more and have them pay more out of their own pockets for higher salaries that the WNBA just isn't generating enough revenue and profit for.
I don't know if that's changed and if the WNBA has made money over the past year or anything....but that's really the only case that could be made for pay to be reviewed.
It’s just the WNBA people! Caitlin will be fine, she has more talent than these same ladies who couldn’t sell tickets in prior seasons. Case in point, we watched the draft for the 1st time in WNBA history lol

I doubt she ever plays an international season. Most players do so to subsidize their income. She already makes far more than the highest earning W player with her major endorsements. The Olympics is about the only time she would play international. That’s my best guess.
