For 1 thing the team's not set for fast breaks, and team mates likely would lose spirit/will to defend with frequent TO's. Hope he'll be better when the regular season starts.
The Nets have the lead when Lin gets his 7th turnover then he seat...Turnover is an overrated stat IMO...A missed FG that was rebounded the opponent and a Turnover has the same impact on a game that is why Lin is +6 even though he has many turnover....
+vincent cheung If you convert 6 TO's to a 100% 2pt FG attemps it will give you 12pts...50% of 12pts = 6pts It means that that 6pts that you are willing to trade for 6 TO's is get from a 50% FGA... 50% percent FGA is pretty decent in the NBA so I will not trade 6 TO's for 6 Pts... On a turnover situation the team is "not set" for defense so is vulnerable for other team's fast breaks, which usually have a very high field goal percentage( 2 on 1, 3 on 2, etc.). And the damage done by discouraging your team mates may not be apparent but I guarantee it affects them( this cannot be done by math). If you played full-court basketball yourself you'd know.
Some missed FG especially a long shot can also trigger fast break and some TO's also stop plays like a charge and out off bounds...But I agree that there is a huge psychological effect for the team because they think that it is a big deal... If they realize that Nets is leading by 5 when Lin go out right after the commentator is mocking Lin for his 7th turnover...then when Lin is on the bench that is the time that the Knicks start a 13-0 run...

vincent cheung some of his turnovers are just plain silly. The most annoying ones are the ones where he dribbles them off his legs.
