Fun facts about Amorim: - He’s 9 days older than Ronaldo - He completed an internship at Carrington in 2018, under Mourinho - His brother in law (wife’s brother) was the PSG Director of Football that secured Neymar for a world record fee - He’s a former teammate of Victor Lindelof, back when they were both at Benfica - He played against United a handful of times and Jonny Evans actually scored in one of those games
doubt the internship, other 6 month old yt video of him, mentioned it was just a "visit" , not a full internship, other points idk, but im optimistic bcs his other tactical review and profiles are not just made recently, he has been scouted far long before
@ what worries me though is, when Ten Haag was at Ajax, he destroyed Sporting and Amorim 5-1. Sporting just sat back in then. Their attack was nonexistent.
This aged like a fine wine Dave, among the many skills his teams have, it is impressive that he has been able to constantly rebuild through losing players, which is very positive, it shows everyone is listening and fitting into what he asks.
Finally, someone got the name of Sporting right in an Amorim review (Sporting Clube de Portugal not Sporting Lisbon). Your tactical analysis of the coach is excellent but one thing that everyone overlooks is Ruben Amorim's communication skills. Here in Portugal he was a breath of fresh air in this regard. Everyone was tired of the usual crying of most managers. R. Amorim speaks in an expressive and polite way and does not engage in controversy. Even when journalists ask the stupidest of questions he manages to give a polite and informative answer. Wish the best for Liverpool and Liverpool fans 👍
Exactly. I'd just add that, while being polite, Amorim is quite honest. One memorable example of this is when he was asked about training set pieces during warm up, he just admitted it was something he had seen Sérgio Conceição do with Porto. In that note, I wouldn't be surprised if for next season he also takes a couple pages out of Xabi Alonso's Leverkussen playbook.
Great video, Sporting fan here. That is a very acurate description of Amorim´s revolution of football. It is by far the best football played by the club in 40 years, and in a country of cunning coaches and players, no one has yet found the antidote for it. Just for more context Amorim joined a broken club, the fans had attacked players recently and half left, there was no money, record low assitance, horrible football. In a broken club that demands wins at everything but has half the money of Benfica and Porto, and whos pressure on coaches is almost infamous and usualy eats them by the dozen, comes Amorim. Coach for 2 years at that point, can he do it? Yes he can, he recalls loaned players, promotes youth, gets some rejects from other clubs, changes to his infamous 3 -4 -3 and is champion in 1st year. It is now year 4, Sporting is back to win another league title, 2nd in 4 years. It has full stadiums everygame, win or lose we cheer. Made more money in sales in the last 4 years then the last 20 combined, loosing key players and never loosing strenght, Sporting´s win average has skyrocketed and we are honored with amazing football everyweek. And also until this year, Sporting team didnt have a proper striker, this year they gave him one......just look at the stats. This man and his team by their craft alone, resurrected a sleeping giant with half of the money that his direct competitors had. You keep asking that same question that we did, is he ready? Let me answer for you, are you ready for him?
Although I agree with you, it can also be argued that ETH got himself sacked. How many times has made poor selections? The rumor is that Ineos predicted ETH will hang himself and get this man in. Whatever it is, I worry for any manager that has to deal with the players that helped sack previous managers. They have to go next summer.
Sporting fan since I was a little boy.. Watched games with my dad at the club/bar on weekends. I remember the days of boloni when we won in 2002. I haven't been so excited to watch this team until Amorim came in. Our team is playing fantastic football. I understand the need for coaches to go to bigger clubs - more money, more challenges - but I really hope he stays in Sporting. He has accomplished something at this club that no one else has - a cohesion and player focused approach that the coaches before him (except boloni) have never done. Pay him and get the players in Varandas!
Congrats, this a very accurate analysis. Amorim is probably the best coach of the new wave of Portuguese coaches and he worked closely with the best Portuguese coach (no it's not Mourinho). By the way he'll bring Gyokeres with him to United, it'll be expensive but the man is better than whatever they have in MUN at the moment.
@@ethanjaworski0677 for what I saw Hojlund isn't at the same level, but maybe he can produce more with a different manager. Diomande is a very good player, but MUN have good defenders...

Agreed but I think Hojlund is perfect for the Gyokores role and Ugarte and Mainoo will be a good combo in midfield as well as Yoro being that exact role of the CB that can carry the ball into the midfield. I think we need a LB and a 10 similar to Goncalves in order to fully play how he wants but we are closer than you may think

Liverpool could invest big in a center back, defensive midfielder and either a LWB (Alphonso Davies f.e.) or Maybe even Frimpong if Trent does invert.

Well, Statman was ahead of the curve on this one. Let's see if that dynasty Ruben will build will be at Manchester united. I hope it is. This guy is an exciting and brilliant coach. United has needed this for years. Let's go!
Great that you're analysing our manager and kudos on the effort. But you got player's names wrong (no Nunes on the squad, the last one was Matheus Nunes - at Man City now; Adan didn't play against Benfica, it was Israel in goal - right foot instead of left; and some other details) and some of the team's dynamics (left center mid covering for the left winger. triangle offense on each side. overlaps by Pedro Gonçalves) nonetheless, keep up the good work
I don't recommend this formation for United. Switching from wingers to no wingers and playing with wing backs is demanding. My club experienced this last season. Although the temporary manager with 3-4-2-1 style got good results one could see the players did not enjoy themselves. The biggest star was a winger and he had to play one of the 2 behind the striker. Clearly he was not happy and wandered too much to the left side. The manager got 3 months and had to leave. Quite much because he wanted to replace 8 players. So. To change Man United's formation and probably therof change the players that much will not be good.
Apparently Amorim has flown into the UK on a private jet to talk about a deal to take over at West Ham. Would love to see it happen but I feel if Liverpool call he will probably end up there. Also David Sullivan is well known for not buying managers out of contracts & I think this guy is on a contract.
