yeah I don't get why they're not bigger.. miles better than other brits like mumford, could be jeff buckley's long lost little brother on vocals... very powerrful album, still playing it weekly and the new one should be a highlight of the year
David Wall No bias at all, definitely Dry the River are much better than the bands that are popular today. I've been listening to their album for a while now. Can't get enough of them. Hopefully, in the long run they receive more exposure for their work. They truly deserve it.
@@monclivie My sister said they were incredible live and everyone that heard them were totally blown away!! Yet soooo many mediocre bands /acts are still performing, churning out such boring empty music. I know music is subjective but I just can't understand the music industry/people's brains lol
The immense joy I had experienced the first time I discovered their music is incomparable. They were and forever will be my favorite band of all time. Not a single artist writes the type of songs they do. Not even close. God I miss em soo much. My playlist just isn't the same anymore. I'll forever miss their genre of songs.
I waited by your bedside And didn't close my eyes all night I named you like a prayer It's anybody's guess how The angel of doubt came down And crept into your bed But after we danced to the shipping forecast The words escaped your mouth "I know it's gotta stop love, but I don't know how" Now the stairs forget your shoes And the gate don't creak for want of you But the jury's out on me We're wise beyond our years But we're good at bad ideas, my love Or so it seems to be Shine a little light Don't wrestle with the night Don't think about the future now I know it's gotta stop love but I don't know how My little one My kettle drum I know I had a message at the start My babel tongue My come-undone I know I had a message at the start My prison kiss My dying wish I know I had a message at the start? But it up and abandoned us, when we were sleeping in our beds It's anybody's guess how the angel of doubt laid down Sand beneath our house I know it's gotta stop love, but I don't know how
I saw you guys in B'ham a few years ago absolutely fantastic it was my birthday treat from my family as I am or was a big fan. Fantastic evening and I love the music so much it is in my head every day and I wish you still produced. Missing your sound so very much xxxxx
To some, this music is beautiful and enchanting. Just because you hold a high disregard toward it, that does not mean you have to be completely insensitive towards the artists and, consequently, their listeners.
First saw this band at Leeds Festival 2011 and was blown away by them - simply amazing live - such a unique sound, great harmonies, lyrics and energy - the more you listen, the more they suck you in. Intelligent musicians with a bit of gravitas (makes a nice change). Just got my tickets for Leeds 2012, if they are not there I want my money back!!!!!!
I remember first hearing this song. Found it on TH-cam, then forgot about for a year. Heard it when it first came out...then forgot about it. Recently I was listening to the Rhythm Kings and I remembered this song. Couldnt recall the band or song. About 20 minutes of intense thinking...Found it.. HERE I AM!!!!
This music video is truly a form of art. I keep getting back to watch it every other month or so I just can't get it out of my head and I'm not complaining about it I really love everything about this
I get to see Dry The River on August 2nd! They're coming to Minneapolis to play at First Ave and I know "New Ceremony" will be incredible live! So excited
I'm glad I got to see them while they're still opening for people. Next time they're in town they'll probably play First Ave, and after that I won't be able to afford the tickets.
Saw them in Nijmegen (Netherlands) a few months ago and I can honestly say that it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot of concerts). Dry the River sound as amazing live as they sound on record. SO GOOD.
Definitely a great song! Stuck in my head all day today...I was just in the Apple store today looking at iPods and noticed the video of this song. I got hooked totally overlooking the technology. I am now officially a new fan!!!
Saw them at Leeds Festival last weekend - sorry Foo Fighters and Kasabian and all the other Big Names, they topped it for me, simply brilliant, wow - vocals, lyrics, musicianship, energy, they have it all. Thanks, Guys for bringing me back to life. Lots more visits 'up north PLEASE!!!!
I get really frustrated when I come across songs like this.....When you love something sooooo much but you can't touch it or hold it... Soooo frustrating! All I can do is play it on repeat :) This song is crazy good...
This is BEAUTIFUL! I really want these guys to tour the southeast so I can see them! So excited for their album, Shallow Bed to come out in a few weeks. It's going to be amazing. I love them!
Folk music in the UK is alive and well. We are taking on bands like Fleet Foxes on head on. I love Dry the river. Another new great band are Young Believers. Search 'Young Believers - Man vs nature.
this is the greatest song in the world
Peter Liddle doesn't get enough praise for his lyrics. The man is a genius
Such an underrated band. They deserve more exposure. Their music is just too good to be unheard by the rest of the world.
Completely agreed! Shallow Bed is such an amazing album from start to finish.
Wild Sounds Civilised Definitely agree with you. Also, one of my favourite bands.

This is Great indeed !!!
I'm still so grateful I got to hear this masterpiece live a couple years ago, before they broke up... What a band!
So envious!! X
For me they're the beatles of 2012. Such a warm sound they've got!
@@wazzereightyseven 100!!!
I had luck to see two of their concerts in one day. That was one of the best festival experiences.
@@monclivie My sister said they were incredible live and everyone that heard them were totally blown away!!

One of the best songs I've ever heard.
yes same!
Yes
I came here after 10 years after suddenly remembered it, still a good song :)
Me too.
This fan still sings along to this whole album, at 62 y/o.

I hear you. I only just found out they'd split. Totally gutted.
Try Poets of the fall. Trust me ;-)
Just been giving them a listen. They aren't really similar to DTR, but fair do's - they do sound pretty good! Nice call.
Happy that you had enjoyed POTF... ''Cradled in love'' is my favorite song of this band ^^
Maliha Sultana I discovered them yesterday. I feel the same joy as you felt and it's one of the best feelings ever. they are amazing
I waited by your bedside
And didn't close my eyes all night
I named you like a prayer
It's anybody's guess how
The angel of doubt came down
And crept into your bed
But after we danced to the shipping forecast
The words escaped your mouth
"I know it's gotta stop love, but I don't know how"
Now the stairs forget your shoes
And the gate don't creak for want of you
But the jury's out on me
We're wise beyond our years
But we're good at bad ideas, my love
Or so it seems to be
Shine a little light
Don't wrestle with the night
Don't think about the future now
I know it's gotta stop love but I don't know how
My little one
My kettle drum
I know I had a message at the start
My babel tongue
My come-undone
I know I had a message at the start
My prison kiss
My dying wish
I know I had a message at the start?
But it up and abandoned us, when we were sleeping in our beds
It's anybody's guess how the angel of doubt laid down
Sand beneath our house
I know it's gotta stop love, but I don't know how
I miss you guys everyday, with all my heart!
still my favorite band in 2022!
Good music stays forever, band or not.
Omg I have being looking for this music forever a could not find solely because I could remember only the melody, but nothing of the lyrics ❤
Found these guys a few months ago, their songs are lovely. It's a shame they're no longer together

SHALLOW BED! Can't believe I am just now hearing about these guys in the US. I like.

I saw you guys in B'ham a few years ago absolutely fantastic it was my birthday treat from my family as I am or was a big fan. Fantastic evening and I love the music so much it is in my head every day and I wish you still produced. Missing your sound so very much xxxxx

real music you do still exist... *sheds a tear*
It still gives me chills. It's such a shame that this marvelous band had to split up.
Seeing them at Reading fest on Saturday for the first time, CANNOT WAIT!!!

I'm glad I got to see them while they're still opening for people. Next time they're in town they'll probably play First Ave, and after that I won't be able to afford the tickets.
Followed these guys for the last year or so, seeing how far this song has come since then is amazing. Best song of 2012 by a long way.
The Acoustic version is just as good if not better. This is band is too good to stay underrated!!!
Thank you to an acquaintance of mine who recommended this bands to me!
