Dhol Damo

Gadwali Dhol Damo is a traditional folk dance and music form from the Uttarakhand region of India, specifically from the Garhwal region. It is a percussion-based musical performance, where the dhol is the primary instrument used.
The dhol is a large drum that is played with two sticks or beaters. In the Gadwali Dhol Damo performance, two dhol players sit opposite each other and play the drum in a synchronized manner, creating a rhythmic beat. Other instruments like the thali, manjira, and dholki may also be used to create a varied sound.
The performers wear traditional costumes, with men wearing dhoti-kurta and a turban, while women wear a sari and a dupatta. The dancers move in a circular formation around the musicians, swaying to the beat and clapping their hands.
Gadwali Dhol Damo is often performed during festivals and special occasions, and it is considered an important part of the cultural heritage of the Garhwal region. It is a lively and energetic performance that celebrates the spirit and traditions of the people of Uttarakhand.
