Dance & Music from Aceh, Indonesia, featuring performers from Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. Presented by the East-West Center, University of Hawaii at Manoa, on October 25, 2012. Immediately after the major 2004 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Aceh Province of Indonesia, as well as neighboring countries in the region, the East-West Center and UH-Mānoa responded by assisting in the re-establishment of educational foundations in Aceh. This has led to an ongoing collaborative relationship between the higher educational institutions of Hawai`i and Aceh. This performance celebrates the impressive rebuilding and recovery which has taken place in the succeeding years.
