Best track off of the soundtrack & best funny part of the movie!

Anyone familiar with the movie knows it's based around a bunch of cartoon snippets, the common theme being the glowing green orb. The segment where this song appears is when 2 aliens in a huge smiling face space ship abduct a pretty secretary during the process of trying to recover some malfunctioning robot. They snort an obscene amount of space-blow and then just cruise.... hence, the song... Thanks for watching.

One of my fave decks the TCK81, you had to blow serious money on a high end Nak to beat one when it came out. I recently got my old one back from my brother in law 35 years after he bought it from me, probably with less than 100 hours use in its entire life.
I got it back from its service at Armstrong Audio in Walthamstow a few weeks ago and it now plays back tapes as if it were new, the engineer said that belts and dry lubricant apart the entire machine was like new inside. Sadly when I tried to record I discovered I had the same issue with the record bias, a small oversight that they will put right when I call back to collect my Akai GX95/2 which they are working on. I am really looking forwards to comparing both decks when they are all tip top. Great vid BTW and I have another album to hunt down :).

Hello Hammy. What i'm hearing in your video during the music track is that the phase is 180 degrees out. I recorded a section, inverted the phase on one of the two channels and after that it sounds normal. So it seems that you adjusted the azimuth wrong (180 degrees out) but offcourse it could be your recording from the deck or processing of any kind afterwards...

Don't adjust anything till you replace the caps all over and then check the levels.

Do you have any tips to give? I recently got a sony tc-k555 for cheap unfortunately someone fiddled with the tape path, azimuth, and all the bloody electronic adjustment pots.

I would get a service manual and see what's involved in setting the adjustments. Try hifiengine.com and see if they have anything. Good fortune on your journey.

@@HammyTechnoid Thanks, I do have a service manual, unfortunately I don't have access to a multimeter, I'm just getting by with furniture and oscilloscope software getting signals back from the play head.
At 7:42 you Lissajous pattern is as such \ which the service manual I've read through states as incorrect ( / this is apparently the correct signal).
      Is your azimuth set alright?

@@command8783 that display was purely for visual eye candy and not a "test signal" You are correct about the / angle... but in this case, for display, it doesn't matter. Thanks for watching! Take care!

I have the same model, but I'm having a ton of truble with the head hight, any advice?. The problem with mine is that after switching from tape side (a to b) the left channel disappears from side a after recording side b, I got the deck real cheap on a auction, already downloaded the manual, nothing helpful tho

Interesting sidebar.... I got a copyright strike (as expected) but not for the Don Felder song (at least not yet). I got the strike for the background music during my narration... even while I was talking over it, TH-cam picked it up and gave me a strike... Oh well.

In early 1980 decks in this price range were mainly direct drive and far superior W&F & SNR. This was discontinued only 14 months after introduction. The TC-K81 was a Sony fail
