Colleen, great video! I am so embarrassed to say, this is the very first time I’ve EVER seen a thimble with no top on it! I don’t use mine often due to fit because of my nail length. Now I know! I’m on the hunt to find one on Amazon, LOL! Thank you!

Hi Myra, I have had my thimbles for years, the one with the top on belongs to my mum she finds it hard to grow her nails:). But don't be embarrassed, this is one of many reasons I do these types of video tutorials.🙂

Thank you so much for this video. My mom taught me to sew and I remember her using a thimble but when she told me to use one, I always had problems. As a result, my basting of upholstery fabrics took forever as I had to put it on and take it off with every stitch! Your video showed me what I was doing wrong. I watched the video and saw you were pushing the needle with the side, not the top. I'm working on reupholstering an ottoman right now so I immediately got up and tried it. I can do it! This is going to cut my basting time more than half!

You are SO Beautiful & We Love Your accent!😄 I have collected Several & all types of thimbles; for Tailoring, Quilting, etc. It helps also to slightly bend the thimble to mold to your finger. I just need to get used to sewing with them. Thanks A Million! 💖 👑

Thank you for this video! I'm embarrassed to admit I never used one because I guess I didn't know how to wear and sew properly with it.

I find I can sew without needing one in most circumstances - it's when I'm trying to push a needle through several layers of a thick fabric like denim that the thimble comes to my rescue!
I had one with grooves on it, which just made the needle slip straight off and into my finger - useless. So make sure you get one with dimples in like the ones shown here, then they properly 'cup' the end of the needle.

I thought it was just to prevent you from pricking your fingers. I always have that problem

I never use it. Didnt kniw jow to & bothers me, but I am trying now to practice. Aldo, it seems o need to buy food ones, not just the cheap free small thread spools, etc whatever you call them at $1 stores, etc.. the groves not like you said.

I've been hand sewing for years and have never used one. Really don't see a point in them unless you're hand stitching through several layers of fabric. If that's the case, I just use a penny to push the needle through. Now what I could use is something on my non-dominant hand to keep the point from tearing up my callous on my middle finger.
