Hi Joe, I wanted to let you know that I recently became a father for the third time and so things are a bit stressful for me at the moment. However, I always watch your videos as soon as the kids and work allow. I look forward to this season and your adventures. Thanks for your videos!
Great to see you again on here and congratulations!!!
Great video,
For many years our group went to East Grand on MLK weekend stayed at Cowger's and before that Bradlin's Camps. Watching brings back fond memories of those trips. We targeted salmon for the most part. Glad Mike still is running the cabins great guy.
Thanks !
yes super nice guy, he was very busy when we were there he was working on camps.
What a beautiful horizon right at the beginning of the video! I love ❤️ it!
thank you my friend.
I like how you saved these vids for the beginning of this season while the ice isn't yet safe and you have the cabin project rolling. When do u think we'll get a glimpse of the progress of your cabin? Thanks
thanks, I have a cabin vid going up tonight that should be live very shortly on the Woodstove Install.
very cool! Any snow yet?@@JoeHollandFishing
@@bryanjelinski8036 not in central Maine just Northern.
@@JoeHollandFishingLooked for the cabin video and the only one on there says it premieres on the 3rd.
@@JohnJones-vx7cr yes that is the next one up.
Evening, Joe. Just getting on. Better late than never.
thanks buddy!
Awesome Joe! Nice togue, congrats! Got to love having your crew.
Absolutely Thanks Bud
My gas auger always gets er done. Love the vids Joe keep it up.
Right on
Well I watched the video and realized that my friend has produced the best ice fishing video Ev!
hahah Thanks my friend. I will try and at least get a train in the next series.
Lmao. Sounds like your hinting that we'll be enjoying another sled trip passing by the old iron horse on the way to the lake.
I'm in construction and I can't believe that you guys did a ton of site work and basically built a very quality home in less than 2 weeks! That is nothing short of amazing. I know you're not insulated, but are you going to live inside this winter while you work on the finish work and enjoy your outdoor hobbies? That new wood stove is gonna just be Choochin" HaHa Lay the wood to 'er! I like the fins on the outside of the new stove. I like the engineering ideas and how heavy duty it is. Looks like you guys used some nice thick plate steel.@@JoeHollandFishing
absolutely thank you. We will be insulated and ready to go! Stay tuned I will try and get more vids up.@@bryanjelinski8036
I’ve never poached a fish I’ve always caught mine legal😂 love it joe. 17:27
haha thanks bud!
I'm going there next weekend my first time can't wait. I'm from Canada 🇨🇦
Have fun!
East Grand is right in my neck of the woods. We have found over the years that 30" is almost always 10lbs and 1lb. an inch after that. I'm sure that ratio changes once you get into the mega giants. Great trip.
Absolutely that’s what we figured for weight to length ratio as well !!! Thanks
Just got a new trap today that I ordered a few days ago, what a beauty it is! Tell Shaun Thanks!
Will do! thanks
Little DR with dinner! 👍

Hi Joe great video . I wwas just wondering if you were finished with the cabin for this year ?
Yes for this year but I’m uploading a bunch more videos so stay tuned
Evening from 6 mile gate up here in Northern maine. Hoping to get down on Moosehead this year for some ice fishing. So far just been hitting some small lakes/ ponds in the north woods as well as eagle lake. Hope to catch up with you in the ice!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
I'll have to try it, but so far my favorite way to cook a fresh maine salmon is on a whiskey soaked cedar plank on the charcoal grill!
That sounds delicious
I have done the same thing with cusk in boiling water. I used some Cajun season in the water. It's delicious!!
That sounds amazing!!!
Great video
thank you!
This is an awesome video Joe and i am STOKED for the hardwater season! I live within a few hours of the Canadian side of this lake and i would love to make a trip! Any tips for setting up for togue and burbot?
The cusk we’re all on bottom with dead the togue we’re either mid range or closer to bottom
Was this in March?
How thick was the ice? I'm trying to decide if my auger will be sufficient.
It's only 6" as well but I could probably drill 3 holes together?
Awesome content Joe , question for you what size elastic bands are you using
Thanks I don’t really know how they size them but it’s about 2.5 to 3 inch before stretching and pretty thick I’ll check in the future for a size
Take care guys
thank you
Best Ice Video EV? Does it have anything in it about Mama, Prison, Trains or Drinkin'?
Been a long time , I gotta listen to some Coe
Yatzee! I thought you'd get the reference. If that ain't country I'll kiss (well u know the rest of the lyric).
@@JoeHollandFishing
@@bryanjelinski8036 Yup definitely gotta listen again thanks for the reminder. Yeah in the title there is just so much happening this video, catch and cook, giant togue, salmon, cusk, ice fishing drills, sleds, livescope I couldn't come up with a title so i just said Best and will let the viewers tell me, haha
Or gettin’ drunk 😂
@@MarcMarion-c7i A lot of that in this series stay tuned ahha
Joe, incredible Togue! Can you tell me more about the rubber bands that you're using? Size? Never used rubber bands before. Looking forward to trying them out when targeting Brookies this year. Thanks for all you do for the sport!
I got a short video airing tomorrow morning Dec 1 at 9 am tell all and show all on it that will help I believe. Its an absolute game changer. Especially on Brookies. Hook up ratio was 99% , hang up ratio was 0 for the week. Usually much different without them.
Joe can you show us how you filet a Cusk or cut up cusk nuggets I never have seen how someone does it
Will do this year
Any plans for the Sebago Ice Fishing Derby?
Hoping for ice cream
Poor Brandon got his number all over the internets. 🤣
He's made some good contacts from it. Stay tuned for either the next episode or the one after there is a cool story from it with a kid fishing.
Propane augers… I don’t miss those days at all!!!!….lol
hahah I never had one but I watched a guy not poke a hole till after noon because he was stubborn with his propane auger at -28
Hahahahaha!! They were so heavy.. we crappie fished with them and yes we poked just as many holes as we do now. It was exhausting! Great touge too buddy!!
Have you had a fish break your leader using the rubber bands?
no only the rubber band.
@@JoeHollandFishing thanks joe. I gotta try this, big browns love to spit the bait on me see how they like this one lol
How far off the bottom you setting your baits for lake trout in east grand
We experimented with a ton of different depths and each day the bite was different it was interesting to see it move up and down daily
if this was late march, I was driving around in a silver Dodge Ram
Yessah
One of the best investments of my life was buying an electric auger.
Truth
Donnies maple video 😊
Haha Yessah
Next time put a little bit of sugar in the water when you poach the salmon then your talking poor man’s lobster works extremely well with pike
Whoa sounds amazing
Dont be knocking the propas ice augers
Ahhh they need to go
They. Will last longer
Fish handling skills need a little work. You push this to the extreme in the interest of a good camera shot...Bag Limit (All Fish): Any fish, except baitfish and smelts, taken from inland waters shall be IMMEDIATELY released alive into the water from which it was taken, or killed at once. Any fish killed becomes part of the daily bag limit (Title 12, §12611).
thanks do you think its ok to take some pictures of fish before releasing them?
A pic or two before releasing is normal, but keeping them out of water for extended periods of time, and even putting them back in the water waiting for the camera to show up can not be good for the fish. I understand that you are looking for views, etc, but don't do it at the expense of the fish.
😂
