There's been more than a couple games to where you single player control capital ships and fight with them but we just don't see enough of that. I want to be able to fly around in my cruiser enjoying battles
@@Alexanderthegreat159 I´m a long time fan of the X series games, in X4 Foundations you can pilot and control cruisers, battleships and carriers, send out fighter swarms ect.
Play Battlestar Galactica Deadlock then. Big ships that hit hard but move slower than a fighter, is all its about. Don't worry. Ships aren't made of paper there
oh man what i wouldnt give for a Lost Fleet game (Or film, Or TV series). If you liked The Lost Fleet though check out the Black Fleet trilogy by Joshua Dalzelle. Very similar to the point where ive been reading them both and keep getting characters mixed up between them!

I miss the explosions from the old game Haegemonia. With the light and sound effects and the destroyed ships broke apart and became drifting hulks. That game is 21 years old and still kicks butt with new games.
The turret placement on the larger ships made me wonder if you could utilize the 3D movement mechanic to engage only the topside of the enemy ship while staying out of the firing arcs of the lower turrets.
Nice video. I thought it is also reasonably priced for what the game is trying to achieve. The voice acting is a very pleasant surprise for an indie title. It just could have used some more polish in the controls like you mention. I also missed a few quality of life features like tactical pause, grouping ships by class, grouping all fighters or all bombers together easily, etc. In the last dev blog, it looks like the dev is releasing the mission editor so folks can create custom campaigns, which is very cool to see. It just felt like the game could have utilized Steam's early access program to generate some revenue while also fine tune some rough edges, instead of going straight to a full launch.

Wait the a.i. legit goes after healing units. Hahaha, you can exploit that by using them as bait. Especially if you can customize them to be tanks and or glass cannons, maybe even deadman trigger splodie thing!
Saw Homeworld from the first frame of the video. Saw a friend playing Homeworld as a kid and only recently learned what game it actually was. Was really hoping for a public demo. :(
I wish one of these games would borrow from Eve's combat. Instead of just running things into each other in a standing at a distance like the British in the US Revolution type combat. U would have to use less ships with the more management the ships would need. Good video bud. Appreciate you.😊
If you want design tips for the UI/X of an RTS, try Total Annihilation, and see what you can do with the keyboard. Other games 'look' better, but nothing plays as well.
The Spring RTS engine games do pretty well for themselves there(mostly because it hews as closely to TA as the threat of litigation allows; while being considerably more modern).
You have to cheat to get all your big ships out in that mission. Since I restarted it and knew where the jump point was going to be. I sent all my ships to that point before evil Janeway finished speaking.
I got this game, and played skirmish for 30 mins and built an empire, researched, customised shop, built modules and a variety of stations, did some manual and auto battles. Ultimately i didnt like it and refunded it. Its not as good or new/interesting enough to beat Homeworld 2, sins of a solar empire, Sword of the Stars, and many other games which come before it. The UI has issues, it has strange game mechanics that dont make sense, and isnt worth $30 thats for sure at this stage

An interesting title, but I actually think it looks a little *too much* like Homeworld. From the HUD icons for ships, the menus, the action icons, etc. I like the campaign map concept, but there doesn't seem to be much innovation beyond that. If I want to play Homeworld I can actually just play Homeworld, though, and the Remastered release has a very active community.
if anyone wants to get super hardcore with this idea you gotta check out Nebulous Fleet Command. its PVP only and tactical battles only at the moment, but singleplayer and campaigns are in the works. one of the best in this genre out there but it is HEAVY. very in depth, big learning curve.
That title looks SWEET, i played Homeworld when it first came out, i played HW2 and Cataclysm, Deserts of Kharak, HW Remastered, i think i will get me this one. Splat, i see you clicking on all the ships, is there a "double-click to select all of that type" function as well?

"This is a game for cruisers and larger" SOLD. We need more capital ship fleet games.
For RTS, big ships are the way to go, for FPS, i´m a fighters guy.
I personally like both, but in terms of,I have a massive capital ship that can launch swans of tiny ships to distract the enemy while I bombard them

This feels very much Babylon 5 meets Homeworld. The big B5 like "mining station" is a big part of that.

My one pet peeve with indy RTS is that they have horrendous ai. And you really need a good ai to make an RTS shine.

Not being able to pause and issue orders and lack of formations are deal breakers for me. Damn shame, too, because it looks to be excellent otherwise.

Been playing Marvel Midnight Suns. WORST voice acting I have heard in YEARS
This kind of space combat where you have dozens of unit all homing in straight on one target is just silly, can't get with it.
