Nigeria's problem is not our size or tribal diversity. The US is bigger and more diverse. Nigerian size and diversity is actually an advantage, but incompetent leadership managed to turn it into weakness.

Federalism favours only Northern Nigeria, at the expense national progress. Also, no leader, since Independence, has any idea about how to build a nation. Successive Nigerian leaders are not necessarily incompetent; they just have no clue about what to do. Consequently, Nigeria has remained exactly the way the British left it in 1960. Even worse. Leadership made no difference because the leaders have no clue.
