I have a bit of a different perspective... i agree its not always their fault.. but if you have toxic family members, and MANY do .. at the end, when you take responsibility to heal and become your best version, and you decide to express your hurt to them over the years..., you will be met with gaslighting, stonewalling, blame shifting, unwillingness to take responsibility, calling you the problematic one and smearing your name, ganging up on you...
You soon realize... they need to be released from your life so you can properly heal and once you do, you realize.. that you dont want people like that anymore in your life.. as your self love grows, the more attachments will likely be cut.. you cannot no longer accept bad behavior, and you realize these people cannot change nor are they sorry for what they did to you!
Being delusional about who such people are.. is a trauma response of avoidance .. unwillingness to accept the truth and reality.. so you go back to playing along and never really fully healing

I was also thinking about this. When people are scapegoating a child, it really can't be completely unaware. They have to have at least some awareness of what they're doing and the pain they're causing. Further, when it's so blatant that even the neighbors are seeing it and try to talk to them about it, they can't say they don't know. Some hurt is truly unintentional and unaware. But some hurt is intentional and the perpetrators know what they're doing. And like you said, the only way to be able to heal is to completely cut off from that sickness. Total distance is the only way to have the space to see yourself as worthy of love and acceptance . They made their choice. If they can't hear or care, we have to choose our own health.

Do babies internalise stress and distress even before birth in the womb .

Thank you for bringing up such an important question. It's important to understand how prenatal experiences can impact a child's well-being.

Indeed...babies absorb thoughts and feeling in utero.
