    Love the side protection. So many protectors miss that. Having broken my ribs 4 times = 2 times riding motocross, 1 time downhill mountain biking, and once snowboarding (I jump a lot) I have not fond really good lower-side rib protection.
    PS I would have liked to have seen in the demo with the chest protector off.

    Just received this and tried it on. My initial feeling is that i dont love it. Im leaning towards returning it. My main issue is that the armor does not connected to the mesh, so it floats around. I would like it better if there was some clips to hold the back protector in place.
    I do like the fit of the Mesh and kidney strap. and the armor is nice too. just doesnt feel secure inplace.

    Chase, I just received mine in medium. Feels great but I’m a bit worried about lower back protection. I upgraded for my fox titan jacket because I broke a rib, but it is about 4” longer reaching my lower back. I’m 5’8” so I went with the medium. It covers my back went standing but if I’m standing I feel my lower back exposed. Am I overthinking my lower back? Would a size large be a tad bit longer?

    Hi Chase, great review as always man. I'm currently using the Fox Titan, need to change, I've watched this and the 6.5 Chest only without elbows. Could you suggest which one you prefer yourself, is this one better or should I buy the chest one plus some elbows? Also I noticed on the chest one he is Large and in this one medium, do they fit different? Thanks bro!

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Personally, I like this version compared to just the 6.5 chest protector. Here are my thoughts. I would buy this one and then just get some elbow guards separate. That way, if there was a day that you didn't want to wear the jacket, maybe in hot weather, you still have the chest protector and you could just put on elbow guards. And other days you could wear the jacket and chest protector. Or maybe there is a day you just want the chest protector with no elbow guards, you could do that too. I like that you can wear this jacket under the jersey and the chest pro over the top too! Only trade off is when you don't wear the jacket, you don't have shoulder protection. Hope this helps. - Chase

    Awesome Chase ;) thank you so very much! I think my only negative is I like better having the popping in or out option on the 5.5 for the neck brace insert if not I think it looks like a good homerun. Having the chest protector separate more freedom of movement/easier to put on and off/versatility and less stress on the garment's stitching. Is the kidney belt stitched to the garment?

    • @rmatvmc

    Compared to the older 5.5 it looks like they reduced the shoulder and elbow protection. both size and coverage? can anyone comment on specifically the sholders and elbows? Im thinking about getting this, or the 6.5 chest protector and then getting seperate elbow and kiddney protection.

    Having a tough time deciding. My main concern is for HOT summer riding. I don’t do well in the heat😂. I mostly ride my DR650. I’d say close to 50/50 on/off road. I keep going back and forth on buying something like this and throwing a light colored jersey over it or just a mesh type jacket with some armor in it. I don’t believe this type of armor is made for pavement riding or I’m I wrong? I’ve got my winter gear setup, which was supposed to be four seasons……but man it’s WAY too hot in the summer. I’m open to all suggestions.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bionic Tech V2 is a little more low profile, but you won't get as much protection around the flank/rib cage area.

  • @bradcronk7934
    @bradcronk7934 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought this and I like the body jacket, the chest protector is just a clam shell with a stretchy strap to hold it in place. It moves so easily that it could come off in a crash. I’m so surprised that this isn’t talked about, had they used a normal side strap it would have been so much better. I definitely regret buying this.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, all the Leatt body protectors are meant to integrate with their neck braces. The 6.5 is lower profile than the 5.5 and has two separate pieces, whereas the 5.5 is a one piece design.

  • @whatsongisthis5691

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're looking for the ultimate protection this piece could certainly work for downhill mountain biking. Leatt also has the 3DF AirFit Hybrid Body Protector which is just a bit less bulky and also recommended for mountain biking.

    Just dislocated shoulder and broke collarbone. So looking for protection to minimise damage next time….. but shoulder protection seems the weak point with this….. any advice from those who know for better/extra shoulder protection?

    • @lukmxtr9604
      @lukmxtr9604 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to disappoint you man but I don't think that exist any body armour which could prevent from shoulder dislocation or broken collar bone
      if you land hard enough on your shoulder or arm !
      Those shoulder protections can only minimize a bit an impact during direct hit to the branch or a crash to the ground and save our skin
      from cut or bruises, and that's why ....I think its still worth to have them in 99% of our everyday crashes !
      But in that 1% when you land hard enough then...your collar bone must give up and there is no any body armour which could really prevent it !
      The same applies to the Ribs protection .
      I had Alpinestars A10 chest/back/ribs/shoulder protection and I managed to broke my collar bone and 3 ribs in relatively low speed 90deg corner on the wet grass.
      Well...maybe we should try newest Alpinestar Tech-Air® Off-Road Body Armour Airbag System ?!!
      Hopefully this system could prevent from our injuries ....but I didn't tried it on myself...yet ! ;)
