You prolly dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother for the last couple of days =)
Guy, Man, Dude!!!! I just sat here and learned to play this killer Priest song flawlessly thanks to you sharing this video. I want to say mucho gracious and I am so freakin' stoked right now. I've been adding my own little phrases, squels, and lead licks along with it. As I feel the need to insert here, a little piece of Dimebag Darrell some heavy crunching rythymn lick and a bit of a seasoning there, of some Zakk Wylde screaming lead licks. Unbelievable, it all fits together some poetically indeed. I also have several of my own original songs that are all pretty much based on this same format. A chord progression here and finger picking 101 there.I am so enjoying adding a little of my own flavors and colors to this most excellent piece of artwork by one of the greatest bands of all time. The masters themselves, the heavy metal gods, Judas Priest!!!! Thank you again for your valued input. This is priceless. Godspeed my brother. Looking forward to your other videos. Keep the dream alive.
Awww, man, thank you so much for your kind words, and thanks for sharing your journey and your excitement on playing the guitar! I love that. Peace, my friend.
Just curious, by chance have you ever heard of the band or individual "Guy Man Dude"? Back in the 80's about 85-86 there was an MTV video of this group or individual that played a totally amazing rocking heavy metal version of "Paint it Black" by the "Rolling Stones." It was purely an instrumental version of this guy shredding on guitar throughout the entire song. I have no way of researching this artifact myself but if there is anyway you can. I highly recommend checking it out. Also, would you possibly be able to make an instructional video on Mr. George Lynch's song, "Mr. Scarry?" I started learning it a few years ago but I struggle with reading tabs. My eyes are not so good and I have Adhd and it's extremely difficult and I guess just plain tragic for me to try to learn songs that way. It's too monotonous for me and frustrates me to implosion! I can't get past a few measures and I'm ready to shoot myself twice. This hands on is what I am accustomed to from all the years in the basement with several classic rock and all original hard rock bands. I am self taught and really had no idea what I was doing for the past thirty years now. I just play the licks and chord progressions I hear in my head. Even if I am ripping someone else off. I have to keep playing it until I get it out of my head. And being I am a type A personality I won't stop for weeks, months even years until I master the piece of music in my head exactly the way it was meant to be played. I have some killer intricate licks. Im certain you would dig them. For example, while triple picking the "A" string power chord and steadily rocking on the "A" string an eight count (times) up and down on the "A" power chord speed picking (like Iron Maiden's galloping horse into battle style picking) then four counts on the "C" note third fret "A" string keeping the rythymn (the count deminishs per note) using the ring finger on the "C" note third fret play four counts, the middle finger on the "B" note three counts, then the index finger on the "B" flat first fret one count. Straight back to the "A" power chord eight count repeat entire sequence four times. I had to pick this repeatedly for at least two weeks everyday for a few hours at a time until I could finally play it flawlessly to perfection. I got it out of my head and inserted it into a song I had been developing piece by piece. As the notes and chord progressions came to me. I have written about maybe fifty or sixty original songs over the years. The very first song I ever wrote took me fifteen years to complete. It's a beautiful classical sounding instrumental piece of music. All acoustic finger picking song. I love it. I have actually learned to play it entirely with my eyes closed. Which is a challenge since it covers twelve frets and four strings E to G. Playing up and down the fretboard and each note in between. I'm pretty proud of that one like most all of them. It is strange to me how each new song I write feels like a new born baby when I finish writing it.lol If just like I could email a couple of my original songs to your email. I only have a cell phone that works off of wifi. So I can download a couple of my recordings to my email then send them to you that way if you would like to check them out. I would appreciate your feedback.
@@sonnyrocker You are the only other person I know who has heard of Guy Man Dude. I graduated in 1986 with 2000 other seniors. I know alot of people. Everyone I've asked had never heard of them. I tried finding the video on here a few times in the past but it was a dead end.
@@sonnyrocker Awesome, I see someone has uploaded a bunch of his music. Do you know music theory as far as say if I'm playing in the key of Em I need to know how to count up to the third and fifth. Do I begin counting from Em so that would make the third a Gm or GM. Or do you count the next note first beginning with the F that would make the third of Em Am or Am?
Hey Sonny, Great Lesson!!! I remember growing up and you had your Priest fans and your Maiden fans. You had to like one more than the other. I loved them both!!! LOL Take Care Thanks Bro!!!
For KK Downing's part skip to 10:56 -- (just FYI for more advanced players/faster learners). Great lesson, as always, sonnyrocker!! God Bless ya, my brother in Christ!

My favorite twin guitar band. Glen Tipton is so underated! Can not wait till you do your follow up for this one. Keep them vids coming when you can. All you do is appreciated
If there is some special Grammy-type award for "composer, in Heavy Metal genre", it would have to go to Glenn Tipton. Not many people would take the time, or have the aptitude to recognize the musicianship and compositional skills it takes to accomplish the library Glenn has created - and to do all this in the realm of Metal - well, it's not as easy as it looks. I like seeing others who appreciate his contribution to the world of music.
Thanks for clearing up how to get back to the starting E of the main riff. Everyone else is doing it wrong. KK is an amazing guitarist and his older guitar work can be hard to figure out. Thank you!
Great tutorial! One of the best - if not THE best "how-to" for a Judas Priest number I've seen yet - and not the easiest to pull off. Way back in my front man days, I tried to get a couple of bands to learn this, but once they saw how many sections were involved, they decided to pass. I never did play well with mediocrity. Anyway - Thanks for getting this out there - and getting it right, sonnyrocker!
Iron Maiden is very special to me. I love them both but I love Iron Maiden more. LOL and the reason why I don't do any Maiden videos, it is because they are all tabbed out and there are so many videos on Maiden songs, not to mention that I played so much Iron Maiden back in the days that, I haven't played any of their songs in years. They will be here in September and I look forward to see them live!
Thanks Man for making these videos .Always wanted to learn this .Can tel that you like the PriesT.Got a grin on how you say, oh ya here is another cool part and after, oh ya another cool part. Many in this toon.
ME TOO! I heard it in metalhead the movie and its been stuck with me ever since. the movie is so good. I felt empty after watching it cause some aspects were relatable
One more comment, sonnyrocker - I see a lot of requests for this and that. I'd like to see someone take on "Saints In Hell" from the Stained Class album. According to all I've read, Judas Priest never included this song in any live event. It's one of my favorites. In my humble opinion, if anyone should have to decide on only two Priest albums, they would have to be Stained Class, and Killing Machine [Hell Bent For Leather]. These two collections document the apex, the culmination of sound and image for the best band to ever come out of Birmingham, England.
I would kill to play like you. Judas Priest is my favorite band and why I started playing. But I'm just a beginner only playing for a few months and I just can't see myself ever being even close to your talent. Love your videos though.
Donnie Rowe hi Donnie, thank you for the kind words! and you can play this! it will take hard work and dedication since you are a beginner. Just do it in small pieces, and play them slow. Very slow. don't showed up until you have the notes right and timed evenly
thanks for the victim notes and expl scale in and such, right on the level good speed, for me, anywy. also, U dont waste alot of time explaining in detail like these guys how to freaking strum, its called, know the dam song! THANX AGAIN AWES!
Very very well done. Priest is one of my favorite bands of all time. I just bought my first electric guitar and am looking forward to learning this. I've also been watching Mean Street by you. That tone is great by the way...what kind of amp do you use?
Hi R Bere, thank you!! I use the 100w Marshall Valvestate head with 12x4 Laney Cab. The amp has reverb on it and overdrive is all from the amp. Just guitar straight into the amp, mic'd it with the webcam and that is it. :)
Just recently started playing guitar again and went for this one. Great video and great tune you got there, pretty sweet guitar too. Im personally more of a drums and bass kind of guy but I got an epiphone black beauty so I decided to blow the dust off of it and learn this one. Great video. By the way what guitar is that?
