A great video. The terminology needs further research. Pickaxe?? It's an adze!! Junk? However a beautiful and informative piece!!! Thank you.

Beautiful videography and interesting economic info BUT: you’re talking about the East African coast, not the China Sea. What is this obsession with ‘junks’? They’re ‘dhows’, a generic, non-Arabic word for a variety of NW Indian Ocean and Arabian traditional trading vessels. (‘Junk’ is the generic word for the Chinese waters equivalent.)

Beautifully filmed and quite fascinating. The narrator Did a fine job too. Unfortunately, he clearly knows absolutely nothing about boats!
It would have been very beneficial to have had the script checked out by a qualified seaman.
    So very many laughable mistakes!
    But well worth watching, nonetheless!

As a fellow Academic I support anyone's pursuits to teach or explore. Thank you for this glimpse into Zanzibar Island.
Do you have the contact information for that Shipwright? Id buy one of his boats.

No need for radar, sun, stars and wave shapes; thats how sailing was done in the past in the Pacific

0:55 And the idiotic unrespectful sht makes strong emphasis on the word "junkS", junK his fkn brain. Is this guy an academic?, far from it, just a propagandist stiled on racist victorian era 🧐👎 Again repeating "junkS" at 2:15 , 3:10 , 8:35 all within 20 min of video, really loves the word, must be junK himself. I just dont know how guys in Africa put up with these kind of idiots. What about the french language text? The video is abouth Dhows and never uses the word itself, it's only replaced 🧐👎Shameful "academic documentary" pure JunK 🧐👎
