Dude thank you so so much! I love yours and your wife’s content and feel extremely blessed that you mentioned me!!! 😁
"I want a longer book"
I think we can all agree that this pretty much sums Ian up 😄
That's the first time I see someone describing Chaol as Dope 😂
We need more Male's perspective haha
He is. Just sometimes could be an ass. But I'd argue Aelin is just as bad tbh.
I loved this video! I work in a male dominated industry and there was this really “manly man” (for lack of better words) who bonded with me over the throne of glass series. He started reading them because he has a daughter and wants to read more heroine stories 🥺
I actually totally agree with you about Manon! I really didn't care about her until Empire of Storms, and then she became one of my favorites!
So happy to see you did the tandem read!!! It's so much better; I loved it, especially the way information was revealed.
Exactly!! I can’t believe imagine reading those books any other way!
I love this idea from a male's perspective. I will eventually watch this later when I am through the series. I am on Chapter 9 of Throne of Glass just trying to get the motivation to read it. Happy reading!
Happy reading for you!! I had to take month long break in between some of the books, so I get that!
Kingdom of ash is my favorite
You and Ashlynn have influenced me to be book lover and I can’t thank you enough for it.
I am so excited! Thank you, Thank you for this video!!! I have been waiting for this for forever🤗
Your Back lets gooooo, Finally converted my old vlogging family channel to my booktube channel through you and your wife inspiring me lol
Oh that’s awesome!! Can’t wait to watch your book content!!
I’ve read the series up to Heir of Fire and I’ve been pretty lukewarm on it so far. I was considering dnf-ing the series, but this video gave me motivation to pick up the next book (Queen of Shadows). So thanks
The view of those mountain ranges 🤩. I absolutely loved your take on this series. How she connected everything in the last book was awesome.
Appreciate all of the work that went into this video! Had this one saved in my watch later for 2 months watching as I finished each TOG book. So exciting can finally watch the end since I finished Kingdom of Ash
Thank you so much!!
Yay!! A new vlog 🙌🏼🩷🥰
I am so glad you did this. I feel like I can maybe open my mind a little bit towards the Throne of Glass series.
It’s a good time! Really fun fantasy for sure!
As a fellow bookish creator your moments of having to tell yourself “think before you speak” while recording are so hilarious and relatable!!
I am constantly doing that🙈
Love your channel! Thank you so much for the reviews and the perspectives. I truly appreciate how open minded and honest you are when reading/choosing books.
You make me want to re-read the series and I just finished it lmao 😂
I mean😏
Love the video! It was fun getting a guy's perspective!
Just received my book set to start reading. Hope it’s worth it. Thanks for the great pov🎉
What a journey this series is. Glad you gave it a chance.
I see the Sanderson books in back🤭 Please read the Cosmere in publication order!!!!!!!!
Sanderson is coming soon😏
Man, your videos single-handedly make me want to move to Utah. Those mountains are insane.
I mean, it’s pretty cool place to live 😏
I’m looking for more male booktubers! Not hating on my own sex, but it’s nice to hear a male perspective on books! 😊
Loved the review and the humor😁 "Yrene my man.. made me cackle"
6:10: Literally me the entire time. I have a feeling I know who it is but Maas is so good at making you second guess yourself lol
New Ian video let’s goooooo
Yes Ian!!!!!’n I just bought the whole series hoping it was good because my sister told me it was good . Another banger to watch!!!!!! God bless you Ian thank you for always making great videos for us book worms to watch . ❤️ you don’t how much it means to most of us.
You’re reading Throne of Glass!?!? That’s awesome!!! Cannot wait to hear your thoughts my man!! And thank you for all of your support!! Your presence on this channel always brings a smile to my face!
@@iangubeli my presence? Suurreee YOURE videos bring a smile to my face every time I see a notification pop up for an upload . Much love brotha
Yess I’ve been waiting for this! So excited!!
Mannon is my favorite!! lol
She became one of mine!!🙈
Same but when she first appeared I did not give a hoot about her 😂
I'm in the middle of Queen of Shadows but I was not fond of Heir Of Fire until the end. It took me so long to read. I literally skimmed over most of Manons parts so I'm glad to hear that her parts get better. I just haven't cared enough to really read Manons parts of the book.
Same!!
I'm also reading the TOG SERIES, currently on Queen Of Shadow.😁😁
Commenting to say thanks for agreeing Chaol was an ass lol. I was reading the comments of the review of QoS from like 8 years ago and a lot of girls were saying how they didn’t understand why Aelin was better with Rowan and how they liked Chaol. Clearly relationship standards have changed. Chaol was too weak for Aelin, I mean that in a non-physical way, he didn’t know what he stood for, betrayed her, and didn’t accept her flaws. Rowan is her match and accepts her for who she is with her past and everything!!!
I’ve been so looking forward to this video! So glad you enjoyed the series. It’s my favorite. I loved seeing all your reactions to the books. I may have to go back and reread the series again.
Thank you!! Yes this series is definite reread in the future!!
I’ve been looking forward to you reading this series! I finished it last month and loved it! I really enjoy your content!
Thank you so much!!
So excited to see that you are finally posting!!!!
A new video from Ian! I'll put this in my watch list until I'm done with the series LOL
Ahh such a fun video thank you sharing! I read them in the same order loved this series
So sad that this is the one il have to miss for NOW as I haven’t read this series still yet despite it being by one of my favourite authors 😂 so I will add this to my bookish list and be right back ! Just wanted to leave a like ahead of time because I know I’m always going to like the video whenever you both upload 😊
Thank you!! Take your time, this video isn’t going anywhere😉
Gosh I LOVED this series so much.
Awesoem video ‼️💯 one I have listened to Dune book 1 after I watched the first part of the film and I deciding if I should continue and read Dune book 2? I am also on chapter 24 of Throne of Glass and so far I am loving it but I keep getting distracted with other books that I have to read because they are library books which I have to return but I am on my last library book so with that and with this video I will probably get the motivation to keep going and continue my Throne of Glass series read 😅💯‼️ also I have to say that both you and Ashlynn have inspired me to do something like start a booktube or something like it. 😊 it’s a good thing that Ashlynn already had all the books for throne of glass 😊💯‼️ I have heard that Throne of Glass series is a lot of people’s favourite series from all of SJM’s books. I personally am liking it so much more than the ACOTAR series because of the spicy scenes 😅😊
Yes, definitely read the next two Dune books! Absolutely worth it. AND YOU TOTALY SHOULD START A CHANNEL!!!
@@iangubeli thanks. I will. Also I finished Eragon and I highly think that you should give it another chance I highly recommend the audiobook. And I can’t wait to watch Dune part 2. And so far I loved your take on Throne of Glass 🧡💯‼️
Now it's Ashley's turn to read TOG :)
Hopefully soon😏
Wooah you make me want to read this series..
when you fell asleep 😄but I'm so glad you loved the series!
Tower of Dawn was a great way to sleep sometimes🙈
This is my sign to reread and I just finished the series in january
Ian are you going to read & review any modern, classical or historical fantasy this year? I am currently reading Wyrd Sisters & Trials of the Empire. I just finished First Law with Wisdom of Crowds. One series that you and your wife might love is the Gael Song by Shauna Lawless. She was just tapped to also write a Romantsy series. I bet she is a great bridge for your viewers who want to try a well written historical fantasy. The Empire Trilogy by Feist/Wurst is another trilogy that has a big romance similar to the Outlander series by Diana Gablon.
Yes, I would love to review and read more historical fantasy/fiction of any era! Currently reading a classic written near the beginning of the 20th century for a video!
I like ACOTAR, but TOG is my favorite of SJM's series.
Here for the comedy lol 😂 love the vid your so fun!
Currently on the final book of the series and it's been a wild ride
Beautiful mountain scenery in my opinion. 🙂
Stumbled into your channel and subscribed 💗
Welcome! Thank you!
@@iangubeli dont worry 💗 it’s nice to see a man’s opinion of my favorite books :)
@AliceSchicker that means a lot! Honestly :)
THIS WAS SO FUN
love this corner of the internet
Not the shoes in the house and on the couch haha
ToG finallyyyyyyyyy!
Interesting, that you didn't like Manon in book 3 and 4 - I really enjoyed her pov (and the witches overall); maybe because I was a sucker for the whole "How to train your _Wyvern_" plot 😂
One thing I need to mention before I click off due to spoilers for book 6 and 7 (shame on me for not finishing them just yet👀) BUT the way you filmed the bookmark progress in the tandem read was fun! I know it's just a small thing to point out but nevertheless, liked it ✨
Now you need to get Ash to read the series as well👀
She wants to read this series, but she has so many other projects she’s wanting to do🙈
@@iangubeli Completely understandable, there is no sense in rushing your TBR - the enjoyment is what matters most ✨ I will look forward to it as well as other projects from you guys!
Empire of Storms hurt me & I'm still not ok years later. Lol!!
That freaking book🙈🙈
Kingdom of Ash was the best book she has written. I will die on that hill.
I've started listening to the Throne of Glass audiobook about a month ago and slowly getting through it. What order, now that you've read these books, would you recommend to read them? I'm thinking ToG, CoM and then Assassin's Blade.
I started with Assassin’s then read ToG, CoM! I felt that order helped set up understanding for the later books!
As a male myself I love Ur vids
Thank you!!
Love TOG so much
Okay, I have read the first 4 books and I hate the series still! 😂 I guess if u can do it I can do it 😂
I’m struggling so hard to get into Heir of Fire 😩
It was a rough road for me and that book. I took a month between reading the next book and the last three. This series is a lot at once!
For me, is like saying that harry potter universe or the shadowhunter universe is girlish most fantasy books are across-the-board for everyone (in gender perspective) know the binding of a book (series usually as fantasy books usually are not standalones) is the problem, usually targets women without thinking the general population of readers.... and much later down the line, they craft alternative bindings of a book.... there's the problem and confusion for me....
I remember being in a bookstore a few weeks ago... I heard a group of guys asking were the english book section is ....and when they came they just give it one look... and said "that's all girly stuff is nothing for men to buy to read anymore" and I was confused, when I left looked again from a guy's prospective of the book shelfs.... and they were right ....
In first site, the only thing you could see was colourful flowery patterns and you know what I mean ( what you see usually in every female on social media)
It had authors for everyone but not in mind of the male buyers that don't want to look like a flower shop on their bookshelfs and is understandable.... 😅
Yeah I don’t see the novellas at Barnes and noble haha 😆
So is crescent city coming next haha 😆
Maybe🤔 I haven’t decided yet!
You haven’t read any of Stephen King’s short story collections???
Is this spoiler free? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I don’t want to watch and accidentally hear spoilers 😂
Parts of it have spoilers, most of it is spoiler free. I would come back once you’ve at least read to “Queen of Shadows!”
29:24 slipping in a Paramore reference?
As someone who hasnt read this series or any sarah j maas this was just confusing haha
I could see that😂
@@iangubeli 🤣🤣🤣
okay but whats your fav out of the 2 Throne of glass or ACOTAR
I may make a dedicated video answering this question one day, but for now, ToG beats ACOTAR by a landslide!!
@@iangubeli ToG supremacy 😂🙌🏾
Been so curious about these books . But I’ve been told they are a bit 🌶️ spicy 🌶️ I like to keep things PG-13 . I haven’t watched your vlog yet . But what are to thoughts on this
It doesn’t get spicy until the tandem read. Before that, the series had NOTHING spicy, which was a refresher for most adult fiction nowadays. The spice level isn’t too bad, I really didn’t have to skip around as much as I thought I would have to!
@@iangubeli that is definitely good to know! And SERIOUSLY THOUGH that’s why I’ve stuck to YA , I wish in general all authors understood that sex isn’t a storyline . Honestly 98% of the time I think sex scenes are lazy writing. Like “ meh .. I don’t know what actual dialogue to put here .. so I’ll just have them do it . “ 🙄. Like I wanted to read fourth wing SO badly but it’s apparently covered in spice .
Like you know how there are a lot artist releases a clean album
And an explicit album .
Can we get people to start doing that with books. please!
So in general do you think this series is worth the read ?
@@thelifeofmesmilemagee8511 I l or everything about this comment!! I agree, smut is just a way to fluff the page count and, instead of adding anything to the story, detracts from the plot.
I think if you want a good fantasy series that bridges that gap between YA and adult, this is a great series to read!!
My name's tony, and it turns out, I'm afraid of stalkers.
But where’s Dorian?
I do appreciate Dorian!! He really came into his own by the end!
‘Call me a man, cause that’s what I am’
I loved the series too, it’s lowkey about a reformed pick me girl 😂 the only complaint I had is that more characters should have died. This is why Harry Potter will always reign supreme imo, JK Rowling truly showed sacrifice to defeat this evil in their world.
I followed your channel as you reviewed and recommended high fantasy and some interesting historical fiction works. Now I feel like you’re morphing into every other channel with only picking overly saturated popular titles. I’ll still watch but I hope there isn’t just romance from now on.
I also really loved your reviews of Stephen king, made me prioritise needful things.
Trust me, I have felt that way too. The things I am reading now, and the videos I plan on making won’t come anywhere near romance and stuff like this for a while. I was just trying some things out.
I don’t understand why do we need male perspective on fantasy? Just because it’s written by a woman it must be not serious and for women? It’s not less good of many others written by men and it’s not even erotic or anything. WTH.
I took the idea from some other booktubers. The title is just for fun. I never intended this to seem as if Throne of Glass was lesser or not serious. I think Sarah J Maas is an excellent writer, and I think how I praise the series throughout the video shows that. In fact, this is one of my favorite series now. People get caught up by the title, but the video speaks for itself.
@@iangubeli thank you for taking the time to respond to me, you earned a new follower. To be honest I did indeed assume like 99% of the men out there you want to say fantasy written by women or romantasy is not worth it and you felt like your perspective would be so unique since it’s made for women and it’s not fantasy lol. Love that you saw its true value and didn’t need to manspalin anything 💅
Omg finally someone who also doesn't care about the witches in the third book 🥲i gave up on the series on that book actually lmao
I almost did! I eventually just ended up skipping the witch portions.
@@iangubeli I did the same but since the book was overall slow I ended up giving up 😭
@@nightly.chapter Understandable! If ever I reread them, definitely skipping that book entirely!
