FYI she makes a mistake in the beginning by skipping the stitch before or after the shell. So save yourself from making the same mistake. Don’t skip a chain before or after the shell. So you do a triple crochet don’t skip and do the shell on the very next chain after completing the shell don’t skip a chain for the following triple. Hope this helps you out.

Ahh is that why I ran out of chain! I couldn't understand why she did the stitch straight after the shell in the beginning but then the others were skipping a stitch after the shells. I had to make my chain longer, but then row 2 didn't work out either so pulled it all apart and started again. So we start the 9 trebles in the stitch directly after the 2nd shell?

OHHH..MMM..GGGG !! Pattern is soooo easy, I could not resist the urge to watch the video before getting my yarn....it's well explained, I do crochet "a lot" , but I do recommend that if you're not a seasoned crocheter, at least you should write down the first instructions she gives just to have it as a reference, because if you miss a stitch while counting it will also mess up the pattern and throw you off count.
    Again I'll say....great pattern, amazing instructions....lovely blanket.....thanks my dear, I'm your #1 fan.

Look for other "feather and fan" videos. They're very similar to this one, except the use a double crochet instead of a treble. They helped me understand how to build on the pattern better while still using the treble crochet she uses.
