The amount of energy delivered in each pulse is measured in joules. By listening to the volume of the snap, and observing the size of the arc, you are doing a nice intuitive relative measure of energy delivery. The very thin, quiet arc is very low energy. The reason why we talk about energy instead of power, if I deliver one watt of power to your arm, then that will just make you slightly warm. Depending on how concentrated that spot is.
1 watt of power is one joule of energy delivered over the space of one second. If I deliver that one watt of power for a tenth of a second, is still one watt, but now it is only a tenth of a joule.
But if I deliver one joule of energy in a pulse, and the pulse only lasts 50 milliseconds, that is the equivalent of 200 watts being delivered. Now repeat those pulses at 10th of a second intervals, or 10 pulses per second. That is going to hurt like hell. But it's still only 10 joules over one second.

A watt is a measure of power which is the same as energy in a unit of time, and in units this is 1 watt of power = 1 joule of energy produced per one second. So 1 joule over 1 second is 1 watts, and is 5 joules produced over 1 second is 5 watts. 1 joule produced over 5 seconds is 0.2 watts. But for stun guns the issue is how much charge is produced per second (intolerable pain produced is said to be caused by 1 microamp = 0.000001 Amps) To get watts, multiply volts x the amps available.

Just for your information. It only takes 50 mA (milliAmp to kill you). 20 mA will knock the crap out of most people. The Power Law formula P=IE and Ohm's Law formula E=IR show the relationship between E=Voltage, I=Amps, P=Watts, & R=Ohms. If you know two of them, you can calculate the other two.

That’s very true Ian. I trained in the martial arts for many years and have taken thousands of punches to the face, and I can say that being stunned by the stun guns was very different. There is two things to remember. The first is that these are meant to be pain compliance self defense tools, the pain and sound will make an attacker break contact. Some, but not all may cause the attacker to lose their balance as well. The second and MOST IMPORTANT, read the instructions. Many of these need to be recharged each month for an hour or whatever the manual says, even if the stun gun was NOT used. There is a few incorrect videos going around showing guys that say it does not do anything or does not even hurt.. The reason is they fake the videos with the stun guns that have NOT been recharged and have low battery voltage just to produce an initial spark in the video to fool people. These are a good self defense option paired with another self defense tool either primary or back up.

I had a buddy Mike that was working for a locksmith. I have a concealed carry and he would pick me up to ride with him when he went to sketchy areas. One such ride was about 1 in the morning to a hole-in-the-wall club and Mike had just purchased a stun gun. They were fairly new back then and this was the first one I'd seen in person. We arrive at the club and I sit in the car with the window down so I can hear everything. The guy is locked out of his car and it takes Mike only a few minutes to open it. As Mike was writing up the bill, the customer says, "What are you going to do if I don't pay you?" Mike pulls out the stun gun and lights it up, and says, "I'm gonna hit you with this". The guy's eyes get wide and he says, "whoa, I was just joking." He proceeds to pay and ask, "would you have hit me that thing?" Mike said, "I would have laid you out in this parking lot." When Mike got back in the car, I said, "I think he was more afraid of that than if I had pulled out the gun." lol

What type of stun gun can a person carry to stop an aggressive stray dog attack if a high pitch repeller won't work? For instance if the dog is deaf or is immune to those type of repeller devices. I've seen so many dog attack stories and my son walks to the bus stop for school every morning and sometimes there's a stray dog in the neighborhood. I am purchasing him a dog repeller device but I've seen so many videos on TH-cam whereas the repeller is not working on deaf dogs or dogs that has gotten used to the device and it just doesn't work on the dog anymore

It's crazy how this thing is just so effective for self defense and id say way better than having knife because if u stab someone with knife on a spot that won't kill them they can keep fighting back for example the shoulder or arm this won't even kill em this simply will give u probably the upper hand advantage but stun guns? This thing will completely scare off the enemy if u try to zap it on the air and not only that if u stun someone with it for around 5 seconds like the video said it's enough to take down someone unconscious probably and even if u don't hold it for 5 seconds this will give more traumatic damage to an opponent than knife they will be scared to continue fighting u once stunned by it

Thanks so much for watching, David! I really appreciate it! Stun guns are great, but I’m always just a little leery to recommend them for self-defense purposes because some are much stronger than others and if your attacker is on a drug like crystal meth, they may not be as effective. I definitely prefer stun batons that provide you with an additional striking weapon if the stun isn’t enough to take down or deter your attacker. I also highly recommend learning self defense techniques in addition to carrying any weapon. I hope you have an incredible weekend and I really do appreciate your comment.

It also means that someone who, either by training or by drugs or by natural ability, can withstand large amounts of pain without reacting... Well, you are going to have a bad day if you are expecting them to just drop to the floor and roll around.

The voltages are all wrong. they're closer to a 20-40kv. most now use capacitors on the output so as soon as they make contact, the voltage and current drop off. the caps are no longer fully charging and dumping power. the older ones used transformers(bulky) but they maintained wattage. on contact, voltage would drop but the current would inversely go up.

I think that specific style of stun gun is branded under a few different names. We’ve carried the Cheetah before and it was a good stun gun. Thank you so much for watching!

Not nearly as effective as a 45. I'll stick with whats been proven to work, but you do you!

If anything they definitely sound intimidating the sound alone makes me cringe

  • @mobilemcsmarty1466

painful, surprising, but I'll dissent as to how effective ..if at all. they sure put on an impressive light show but that all crumbles when lasting damage has to be done to a body rather than through air. most people tend to be impressed by the fireworks as demonstrated, ok. if they run off great. but the instant you have to make contact your gig is up. you must have a Plan B ready because all you really did now was piss off your assailant.
so all you can do is test by evaluating the scary sound? nah, you test it on yourself. that's how you learn that besides a good pinch and surprise there's no real damage, definitely no lasting "stunning" of any kind.
notice how our host didn't like it but was still fully capable to pull the thing away and go to work. have you seen any security cam vids, or even heard stories, of thugs attacking people with stun guns of any sort? 🤔

I believe stun guns are effective for stealth or sudden attacks, but you don't want to be wrestling with your opponent with one.

Thank you so much! I made this video a long time ago and it was one of my first times testing out stun guns, so it was kind of stressful! I really appreciate you watching!

Looking for a baton style stun for distance . Its more for use on stray dogs or humans. Have been attacked twice by 1 and 2 dogs. just looking for a deterrent not to permantly do damage to the animal. We have 2 dogs. pet 1 2nd ( 90lb gs ) was bred and trained specific for my daughters protection. He does his job very well. I 65 yo female can exercise on our property when she travels for work dog 2 needs more than i can do daily. but our dog walker has been attacked twice now. 2nd time he was injured, slightly, the other owner seemed not to care til his dog was taken down by ours. He is not trained to kill unless commanded which we do not share this info only to clamped the neck and hold who or whatever down til ordered to release. It was alot for the walker but everyone is fine. other owner left without waiting for law enforcement. many witnesses felt the confrontation was encouraged by other dog owner. Would either of these wands be to much for these purposes? again mainly to scare, deter not lethal or permanant damage. I cant fault a dog or a gun its the people who own them. That being said accidents happen also although I do think the 2nd incident was no accident, but either way. Scare, deter etc.?

Hi! I don’t have an experience using these with dogs or other animals, but many subscribers have commented that they are excellent deterrents for dog attacks. I wish I could be more helpful. Thanks so much for watching!

I carry the second one. At any time I discharge it around my dog my dog will run away from me. I don’t even touch them just be in the same room

Exactly! The sound of the stun by itself can be a deterrent to wild animals. Thanks so much for watching!

I strongly recommend cheacki g your local laws. I work for the F.D.O.C. and neck and Groin are considered leathal force not saying it will kill them but possibility of great bodily harm or death exists

Very informative video, excellent. Trying to get data from sellers of these stun guns about the AMPERAGE is like getting blood out of the proverbial stone. They just DO NOT want you to know and if you enquire as I have several times they just fob you off. The voltage of some of these weapons is simply ridiculous AND unnecessary, it's the Amps you need info on.

Try to find the resistance then divide voltage by resistance to figure out amps.

Hey, please can you do a review of the popular BMW car key stun gun. It usually comes in a bunch of colors and is easy to carry around, I’d like to know if it’s a decent buy
