This is a whirly gig made for Carolina shoes to take to shows for advertising! this will likely never be in the weather.
I was inspired by my buddy Paul Jackman, the figurine is of him chopping wood in his Carolinas!! / jackmancarpentry
This was fun build with lots to figure out! as I often say if I make it a second time id make several improvements
This is a all metal Whirly Gig I made 4 years ago on the make mag Chanel • DiResta: Whirlygig

It's really inspiring how you just go about building something from scratch and sort of freehand. I find myself getting too caught up in trying to be ultra-precise or following plans I've created. It's nice to be reminded it's totally acceptable (and sometimes the result is better) to just get out there and MAKE the damn thing

Jimmy, I'm pretty sure I have found every video you have ever made. I've enjoyed every single one of them but this one for some reason really struck a chord with me. In my opinion It displayed your talent, your humor and your production abilities like no other. I really loved it, thank you so much. You have inspired me in so many ways. I'm currently building the shop I've always wanted and the motivation, in large part, is due to the inspiration that I gleaned from you. Thank you Jimmy

Of all your projects, this one is the best. The amount of thought that went into the nuanced details: the bouncing letters, chopping the tree, standing on a pallet. And your carving skills at the band saw, wow! You are a modern-day Renaissance man. It is a pleasure to watch you work.

I have watched every one of your videos and the videos where you let your inner Jimmy out are always my favorite. Tons of people on youtube can build a table or a bookcase but not many people can freestyle carve a cartoon style character whirlygig out of $10 worth of pine. CLASSIC DIRESTA.

The mini pallet selection process just slayed me...liked the manner by which the shoulders caught the chin movement. Reminded of an axeman parked outside my Godmothers house, would watch him chop for hours, days, years on end, good memories. It's that time in my life when I realise no matter how smart I thought I was, I just couldn't do this!! ;-) Cheers Jimmy.
