Awesome narration by Swamiji, with great music and editing by the JKYog Team. Here is the synopsis, Summary (Succinct recap):
Brain - is material localized organ in the head that can be seen
Mind is subtle, Invisible (and situated in the Heart and permeates the whole body as per our scriptures). Mind is also intangible and transcendental. Since mind is situated in the heart, in feelings like Love (Rag - attraction) or hate (Dwesh - aversion) we experience feelings in the heart. It is to be noted that even with brain surgeries the core personality of the person does not change, which is in the mind. Our innate tendencies (though samskaras) originate in the mind
Brain is like the Hardware of Computer and mind is like the Software of the computer. Brain can control the mind.
Thoughts are subtle bundles of energy. There are 4 levels of speech (thoughts):
#1 - Vaikhari Vani - Thoughts are accompanied with spoken words (common day communication)
#2 - Madhayama Vani - We think utilizing words
#3 - Pashyanti Vani - Think without use of words. Thoughts happen in flashes at great speeds
#4 - Para Vani - Think even without thoughts - Understanding or Realization that requires awareness (State of Enlightenment - elevated state beyond thoughts in pure awareness).
Our ultimate goal is Para Vani - touch the root of existence or pure awareness

Swamiji beautifully explains the difference between the brain the and mind. The distinction was revealed by the famous Indian plant biologist, JC Bose of Kolkatta, whose research was published in the early 19th century. His findings showed that even though plants do not have a brain, they do have a mind and experience emotions. The same is the case with flatworms. Thank you, Swamiji.

Each thought of ours creates instant feeling. Good, powerful, positive thought will invoke a good feeling and a bad, negative, waste thought will generate bad feelings within ourselves.

In this video, Swamiji explains thebrelation between the Nure system and our thoughts.
thoughts plays a very vital role to build our personalities.
Even plants and animals are affected by the vibrations.

Indian scientists J.C Bose proved that even though the plant donot have brain ,they do have mind and experience emotions.Thank you Swamiji for your beautiful explanation.

Mind permeates every cell of the body and yet resides in the heart as well - similar to the soul. All this understanding is so helpful in the process of taming the monkey mind - of which we are pitiful victims - but can't even complain as our mind is what we made of it in the previous lives.

What an interesting question regarding the difference between the brain and mind! While the brain is a physical organ in the head, the mind is not limited to the head. Vedas say that the mind not only resides in the etheric heart, but also in each cell of the body. This explains why it has such tremendous power over the body. Thoughts are subtle bundles of energy that can influence our attitude. Wow, thank you, Swamiji.

Each thought invokes a feeling. Each feeling has to be checked. Every now and then when we do not feel good we should stop and check deep inside for the reason for that sort of feeling. Root cause will be a thought.

What an Astonishing facts about our Mind and Brain, I never heard about this before also about different kinds of vani’s, a perfect explanation about why we feel pain in our hearts when we feel emotional thoughts, the understandings of the science about thoughts are very reductionist can’t match up with the findings of our scriptures. Can anybody argue with this kind of scientific as well as Vedic knowledge, which Swamiji has amalgamated both with such a precision and has given us such wonderful piece of wisdom 🙏🙏🙏

Swamiji provides valuable insights on the difference between brain, mind and emotions. When the human brain controls the sensory functions of the body such as emotions, memory, and consciousness, the mind is the faculty of perception, thinking, judgment, memory and enables consciousness. According to vedic science and modern science all living beings, from plants to animals, have some level of awareness and the ability to respond to their environment, though the nature of their mind and emotions varies.

Episode 10: Brain and Mind are two different aspects of human being. The brain is in the head whereas we can say that mind is inside the heart and pervades every cell of the body. If we compare the brain to the hardware then mind is like a software. The thoughts like hatred give the pain to heart because mind is having those thoughts. For the enlightenment it is the state beyond the thoughts where understanding is happening without the mind, thoughts and words.
    - Mind and Brain are different things.
