In May 1966, General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Nigeria’s first military head of state promulgated the infamous Decree No. 34 of 1966, the “unification decree.” The decree effectively did away with the federal system of government practised by Nigeria since its independence from British colonial rule in 1960. In its place, the general instituted a unitary system of government as a way of discouraging “tribal loyalties and activities which promote tribal consciousness and sectional interests and which must give way to the urgent task of national reconstruction.” The decree suspended aspects of the Nigerian constitution and, with it, the military government arrogated to itself wide discretionary powers. Unknown to the general, the effects of this decree would reverberate well into Nigeria’s sixtieth year as an independent nation.

@@adewaleadekanmi9670Comment from a jaded brain. APC lead government, Nigerian security apparatus knows the criminal gangs of assassines. The plot was to distablise Gov. Alex Otti, who received congratulations and attracting World attention of good governance, what Thieftinubu Jagguda Jagaband, doesn't have. As Bokohari and his clerical Caliphate government, selected a notorious 419 administrator Hopeless Uzodinjo, who was in fourth position during 2019 and handed him governorship for Imo State ; with à mission to forceful implémentation of fulani settlerments in Eastern States. Suddenly UGM "Uknown Gumi Men", Police Kyari and Ebubeagwu, started rampant killings of Igbos youths. Asari Dokubo, in video claimed and admitted, late last year, his henchemen conducted the dirty assasinations, burning and destructions of properties, such as in Akaowkwa twice against PDP Senator. Ask your DSS and weak army, why can't they stop ISWAP terroristes, who now control BORNO and parts of Niger States. Northern Nigerian States need those soldiers to combat countless terro groups, who chassed indigenous peoples and occupying their lands. Nnamdi Kanu asked for equity, stop Igbophobia, profilling, infrastructures or self determination. Oloye Sunday Igboho , requested for Yoruba Nation, likewise those armed Oduduwa militants who invaded Oyo State Governors house and fired shorts at Nigerian army who went to arrest them. Aha, are they IPOB in Yoruba Nation ? Abeghi Igbocn haters, leave us alone.

May 30th is a date that the people of BIAFRA will never forget. Am not a BIAFRA or connected to the igbo tribe in anyway but i know for a fact that the imperialist northern oligarchies in cohorts with YUROBA cables invaded the land of the rising sun 🌄 when the indigenous people declared their independence from the entity called NIGERIA which was created by the imperialist British empire. Over 3mìllion innocent women and children where massacre including the genocide that took place in ASABA.
Biafra had existed about 500 years before Nigeria was created. It wasn't actually a new country that was declared by the 1967 proclamation of Biafra but it was like a restoration of the old Biafra. There was no Nigeria abinitio. We had three regions from where Nigeria was carved out in the 16th century.

      Well spoken.
Some uninformed black Africans with quota education are behaving as right to self-determination and memorialization is only for so called Whites, Arabs and Asians. Look at all the noise around Palestinians and tell me why black Africans in similar situations cannot be afforded the same right? Especially to remedy their coercive homogenization inside mere abstract entities like Nigeria like mere objects by white supremacists. This is what Igbos are demand to ne remedied not only for themselves but also for alll other ethnic-nation who elect to exercise their own rights. Putin is demanding the same for ethnic Russians in similar situations in Ukraine. Kosavars demanded theirs from Serbians and got it. Yugoslavia is now decomposed due to remedy of right to self-determination.
May be because they are so called whites while blacks are regarded as savages who are expendables.
Sit at home is the expression of right to memorization due to the genocide, infanticide, femicide, ethnically targeted rape of women and girl children and mutilation of their anatomy against Igbo-Biafrans.

Why can't, the Nigerian army respect human lives? Oh' I forgot that the military is actually mixed up with "repentant Bokoharam terrorists" who wants to mock the millions they murdered. If Bokoharam terrorists can have a day where the Nigerian govt of Buhari entertained them after killing innocent people. Then those, killed by Bokoharam jihadists should also be remembered.

Nigeria needs a state and Local Police. How long will these unruly activities keep going on. There are state police, highway police patrol, and local Police force here in the USA. Why can't the Nigerian government copy that system. Nigeria have Central Police in Abuja trying to maintain law and order in Nigerian villages. This is crazy.

@misbahuabba9901 Nigeria do not have to be the US to have a federal system of government. There are many countries that have a Federal system of government. If Nigeria could not have state police then they can not have state governors or federal government system. Nigerian politicians make things difficult for their people.
