    I really admire your small scale builds. I'm not saying that big scale makes it easier to build, but I think your kind of "human-sized" builds are actually the best for survival worlds.

    • @Arterexius
      @Arterexius ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Big builder here: Big scale does, most of the time, make it easier to build.. At least to build the base structure (foundation, walls, floors, ceiling & roof) and add the base features like windows, doors, gates & stairs, but when it comes to adding detail, that can be a bit trickier, especially for very organic builds and certain high fantasy genres. Modern builds are almost always minimalism and the best way to sum up minimalism is to ask "what are the base features?" and then cut away everything that isn't functional and needed.

    • @Da-choppa
      @Da-choppa ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Arterexius exactly, I love doing mega builds but it is always really tricky to get a bunch of detail on them

    • @dmitritelvanni4068
      @dmitritelvanni4068 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I typically don't build individual builds too massive. My biggest single building in my current(fairly new) world is 25×25 but it was more than enough. One thing I prefer to do, is clear the land in survival, maybe even go as far as layin foundation, then switching back to creative for the harder parts. Helps me get an idea of the size I should use, and also tends to help force me to furnish builds more often. Though I like to keep one part of the map survival only to keep me rooted in functionality.

    • @dmitritelvanni4068
      @dmitritelvanni4068 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Arterexius totally agree, while I avoid it nowadays, I struggle sometimes especially with window and arch placement

    • @Vhisper
      @Vhisper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dmitritelvanni4068 oh man don't ask me, I use 2 monitors, in one I have my creative world with layouts and stuff and the main one with my survival world. Typically I use creative world to create the main exterior and survival for decorations and interior, my buildings are typically human scale so that you can play there in survival, but some of my projects are freaking massive, that took at least 2 weeks to build each

  • @Laticia1990
    @Laticia1990 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    I like how you break these builds down into small, medium, and large projects. Sometimes I see huge minecraft cities, and think I could never do that. But seeing the small builds, and putting it all together is less overwhelming. I can make a cute little vilalge.

    If you want to create an atmosphere in your village the key is movement.
    Put campfire chimneys on 80-90% of the houses, flowing water in a waterfall of fountain. Animals, minecarts riding around. Any movement is good

    3:37 Instead of doors on all sides, put a door on one side, windows on opposite sides, and a ladder opposite the door. That way, you can still ring the bell. Whether you use full blocks or something else behind the ladder is up to you.
    12:06 Trapdoor beside the bed, potted plant on the trapdoor. If you're generous, banner, item frame, or painting above the bed. You can put a light gray stained glass pane in an item frame to signify a mirror. It might be possible to tuck a little storage above the door.

    I’m incapable of voluntarily envisioning 3D objects in my mind’s eye. My mind is basically just dark with text and sound most of the time, though I am capable of recalling visual things in particularly strong memories (but everything will be hazy, out of focus, and sepia-toned despite not having any visual impairments irl). I wanted to go into physical and digital art design when I was young. I seemed to excel with light-in-detail interpretations of what was in front of me or playing in a vcr; based on stuff that was kept and awarded from compulsory education. But when it came to sketching out poses and custom architectural design, I would fall flat on my face and (rightfully) get frustrated. I was never discouraged away from art by anyone… I just willingly distanced myself from it into GUI-oriented programming. It’s my artistic pride that I seem to be naturally inclined to make programs that are visually appealing and easy to use! It’s my degree path, my career, and my art.
    I adore building in Minecraft! It’s both a tactile experience and a relaxing task for me. I get into a rhythm placing blocks and vibe out. I constantly come back to videos like these and so many others to get my foundations, layouts, and skeletons done, and then I keep going and embellish at my own whim. These videos (including the survival series!) are timeless; thank you for making them!

    This is why I think minecraft needs to introduce blueprints. I play empyrion, and in empyrion galactic survival you can build structures, save the blue print, then for the cost of materials and some time spawn it in your survival world. I know we kinda have this option in MC creative using a block whose name I forget, BUT those blueprints seem to only save for THAT world. Even if you start a new world with same seed, it won't transfer. And this is kinda annoying when you have a nice build you really like, or want several of in a survival world. Just let us save the blueprints please.
