  • A basic electric motor is a device which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy or torque. Torque is a twisting force. Electrical motors produce torque. Electrical motors operate because a rotating magnetic field is near another magnetic field.
In many Hybrid cars the electric motor can also be a generator which is used to slow the vehicle down. This is called regenerative braking.
Faraday’s Law of induction is the basic law of electromagnetism. This scientific law of physics is about electromotive force. This is the principle of the operation for electrical motors, transformers, and solenoids.
Electric motors are used in computers as cooling fans, and ceiling fans in homes, hair driers and many other places.
