    It would be nice if you can make a video comparison with the one that is around 800 to see if it is woth almost double the price

    I tried one of these at my local music shop and it’s pretty amazing. The frets could probably be a bit smoother on the edges, but the feel of the neck and the sound of the guitar is gorgeous.

    I played one yesterday… For some reason these particular guitars are not as resonant as the Gibson. I wanted to love it, but it certainly felt good; neck, fretboard, action etc. but just sounded thin to me? Wondering if the strings they are putting on these are not a good match? Maybe it’s the bracing? Something was missing. I owned a real vintage j-200 that was lost in a house fire so I know these guitars well.

    I've got just the normal epiphone j200 inspired in natural I wanted the 1957 sj200 open book headstock version but didn't have enough funds. So how ever my local guitar builder and repair shop are converting the headstock on the one I have to look the same as this. I should have it back with in 4 wks I can't wait

    Thanks for including some harmonics in your sample. Big-body guitars are superb when they have bass-string 'fret growls' and strumming with huge bass tones, and you don't offer much of those. Need an example of a well-recorded bass-growl? TELL ME WHY from Neil Young's AFTER THE GOLD RUSH album.

    What is the difference between that pick up and the LR Baggs Anthem? What are the differences between the $500, $1k, and $1.5k guitars? When and why should I consider each? How do they sound compared to each other? Thanks

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All piezo pickups sound approximately the same.
      0.5-1-1.5k guitars are relatively in the same ballpark value-wise, if they're all solid wood.
      You should consider what fits your budget best.
      Then what you like most, visually and tonally.
      Whether you will perform or not.
      Whether you're living in a humidity-temperature hellhole or not.

      @@LegsONThe anthem is dual undersaddle and mic. The vtc is only undersaddle.
      The anthem is the best natural sounding system on the market.
      Ive played both and own two guitars with anthems. The vtc is great, but its not the anthem.

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonebone69 And Anthem is not Fishman mic blend. :)
      Undersaddle pickups seriously damage acoustic tone.

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonebone69 Also, I was speaking of piezos. They're indeed almost the same.
      Double pickups are in absolutely different league, of course.

    Why did they stop making these in Indonesia? Those guitars were fantastic! They moved the factory to China and raised the price now..
    keep the pickup, the stinger and make them better in Indonesia for 600 less. Gibson always has to ruin a good thing

      The Baggs VTC piezo is quacky. They should have included the newer Baggs HiFi system.

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@im58woody Too expensive. This model is 1400-1700$ new, with deluxe case.
      That would make it +100$ I think, which would screw with its price point.

    Tried it in person. Great guitar, but for the same money, Taylor GS mini sounds, plays, and is more comfortable. Trust me. I tried multiple times over and over.

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Of course a tiny guitar with short scale is easier to play.
      Though you deny the tonal advantage of this Epiphone, you can't deny it looks three times better, will age better, has a deluxe case and a high quality pickup.
      And it's a J-200, come on!
      You don't compare apples to oranges.

      I think OP may be thinking of the older base Epiphone j-200 CE because the GS mini isn’t $1500, totally different price brackets so I imagine they tried the $400-500 variant, not the custom shop that just released.

  • @felipeepilefelipe

    Is the body of this new Epiphone inspired by Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Custom Shop, the same depth as the original Gibson J200 or is it thinner, like is the J-200 Epiphone inspired by Gibson that was released around 3 years ago?, that has not the same body depth than the original Gibson J200, is thinner.

    • @dirkwitte7509
      @dirkwitte7509  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! I just measured the two and the Epiphone is 11.7cm deep at its widest point at the lower bout and 10.5cm deep at the upper bout.
      The Gibson SJ200 Standard is 11.9cm deep at its widest point on the lower bout and 10.5cm deep at the upper bout. So a slight difference between the two at the lower bout.
