    What you described as friendship strangly look similar to relations that usually develop between closed village commune. When people live in one place for many generations and know that situation won't be changing.
    Members of this communities often value their responsibilities for people more than their personal live.
    It is often the result of understanding , that treachery or neglence of social contract would result to punishment to their families.
    On the other hand right doing would be accepted and collective will help their loved once.
    But it is less and less common as people became more isolated.

    I also love studying languages, maybe this is why I ended up working as a C++ developer : )
