@@livingoffgridinscotland they are very expensive compared to LiFEPO4 . the cannot be discharged more than50% and they are very inefficient. about 70% efficient. so you cannot use 50% of the battery and every cycle you lose at least 30%. you need to buy 35% more solar panels and double battery compared to LIFePO4. I've just spent a week sorting de-nailing more than a ton of 19th century roof timber from a demolition. Should see me out for good quality pine & a surprising amount of oak. Appreciate your videos.
Good morning, could you please let me know where you got your Hyundai generator? I'm looking at getting one, but was wondering where you got yours, as I am in Scotland too 🙂
Hello good to see you I need to put my van in a big shed like that. I need to do some rust that is appeared on my van. I so miss having Land okay anyway I should be up in Scotland sometime this month hopefully staying with friends and family and travelling around Scotland. Great to see you take care😊
Where's your nearest EV chargepoint? The cheapest battery you can purchase is an EV. MG 4, ZS have an LFP capable of many many charge cycles. In winter you could drive down to the chargepoint, charge it up and bring that power home to fulfill your requirements for about 3 days. And then there's the cheap motoring. Free with those panels. Can get a 2022 ZS or mg4 for about 15k. They'll come down in the next cple years. A battery capable of giving you a quarter of a million KWH.
@@rickyjulian496 we now have ev points about 6 miles away in stranraer, problem is, when I need my personal car, I need it, in a hurry, it’s normally an urgent 6/7 hour drive to a family emergency, had a renault Zoe on hire about a year ago and it was a nightmare, the charging infrastructure just isn’t there yet in Scotland, probably be another 5 years before there’s sufficient fast chargers…..
@@livingoffgridinscotland living off grid with an EV is probably like having an EV without a driveway/chargepoint. I've not thought about that. How far away Is the nearest neighbours house that is connected to the grid? I suppose next best thing is a PHEV. Basically a generator on wheels. You can idle the engine to charge the battery then use the V2l with that. Apparently Chademo do v2l and the mitsubishi outlander has a chademo. The UK version probably doesn't tho. I think 30 mins idling will fully charge the 12kwh battery. Probably burns 3/4 of a gallon in doing so. It does 4x4 mode too. Just a thought.
Fatso has had a new stable for around 4 years now…. Lack of funds and other work commitments elsewhere are halting all progress up here, realistically we can’t afford to do any more work on the place this year.
Hi Richard, If you're passing, Wigtown Rd Services (Shell garage) in Newton Stewart has a red diesel pump.
I am on 48v offgrid with generator auto start 1500 rpm , lead acid batteries have done me well regards
LiFePO4 batteries. never thought that I would ever hear Lead acid batteries word again.
Lots of people still using flooded lead acid batteries in true off grid situations, it’s horses for courses

Why can't you get red diesel delivery for "Non-commercial generator electricity"?
@@ITAMED1A we should be able to, fuel companies keep saying they can only deliver to farmers….

I have made a high voltage system from an kia niro 65kw battery, that battery you can pickup for £3,000
I’m not ready for lithium yet, need to change out the outback charge controllers and the big Chinese inverter, they only work with lead acid
@livingoffgridinscotland Yes will need to install 400v inverter like a Solax

Good to see your set up. All the nasty as well as the good. Bloody awesome.
Would you guys think about a central boiler?
What do you mean by central boiler?
Good catch up video, good to hear you have been on holiday! I thought you had been arrested or something! 😂
We have to go to Spain twice a year to meet my business partner, so these are kind of working holidays…..
Still good to get away though

How about running them on heating oil?
