I've been training for about a year and a half and I started at 14, believe me 15 is not too late!
When I first started I could barely do a few push ups, now I am able to quickly climb walls. Once you start training in the same places you see yourself accomplishing what before was 'too scary' each time I train I see myself progress, and be able to do a little bit more.
Go out and have fun :)
Very positive! What a beautiful clip addressing the need to inspire and get more girls and women involved in the sport. I myself have felt intimidated to try it, but now...I wanna go for it!
This just rocks. This is exactly what we need in the U.S. and around the world. Keep it up
fullest respect ppl! well done for contributing to your community through your passion & changing others lives!
Its disgusting how there are so many comments putting girls down in parkour and calling them embarrasments to the sport. Parkour was never designed nor made for a single group, nor was it made for peoples egos or their narcissistic ways. Parkour is and always will be for everyone, and its the people who put these beginners or the girls down that restricts the sport in its development and growth. As a Traceur i'd whole-heartedly encourage anyone at all to do Parkour, and live for it as i do
Great seeing the girls posive reaction when they achieve their challenge/s, as practioners we all can relate to this magical feeling.
Well filmed and edited Julie!
Big Respect to the whole PK Gen staff.
Zeno
P.S Happy to see Forrest doing what he does best again!!!
Whee thats great! I love that you are inspiring young people, and teaching them! Would be really great to participate on a lesson like that.
So keep it up!
That's fantastic! I hope more girls try it out and see that parkour is a sport everyone can excel at.
Nice..i just love these kind of vids..with people learning parkour and stuff like that.
Keep up the great Work!
good stuff guys, would love to get envolved with teaching this stuff in a few years! nice one, Mantis
Hell yes dont let age stop you!
I started when i was 12 and i joined a group...
Its now ma fav thing to do (at 14)
:-) Jordan.
I think this is great. More girls should get involved in this.
nice! keep it up, i like the idea of having more girls in parcour!
Some of the girls realy have potential. It´s cool to see what one day of training get out of some of them. I´m sure they didn´t expect that they can do Things like that.
Pretty cool project. Keep going on like that.
this is great.
if girls already do gymnastics, breakdancing, and movie stunts, there's no reason why they can't do parkour!
parkour will get bigger but i think the part that will grow the most is the best and the part that will grow the least (relativley speaking) is the new part because people often don't realize how hard it is to get as good as the trainers in these videos
That's brilliant! I wish I went to that school
@YoshidoriAnimation theres parkour and free running forums in most countries now, by the look of ur username, ur japanese? if so i know theres free running groups in japan
Rock out! This is so cool! You go girls.
this is sooo amazing! i wish they teach this for PE in holland!
Thats pretty kool. Glad to see ladies getting more involved in it.
~X~
im from ireland nd im 13 nd waz wondering if there is a parkour in ireland because i started free running nd my friends say im deadly so if you could tell me if there is a parkour in ireland and where i can find you plz lyk dis so dey can see it :)
Now THIS is awesome.
Well the overall meaning is "Freedom of movement", but the "text book" definition is "To move from point to point in the fastest most effiicent manner".
Freerunning is the same philosophy but one adds a personal touch or accent to each movement, thus the same idea as competitive gynmastics.
I'm also wondering if there is any Parkour organizations in Canada.
are there any parkour training center in singapore? can somebody tell me?
we need to have one of these in america because i'm a girl who would love to learn parkour but has no one to teach it to me.
I see. The best way to get started is to go online and find some people in your area who are practicing. If you go out and train with them, they will show you the basic movements, and get you started!
For example, if you live in Los Angeles, look up"Los Angeles Parkour". You will definitely find some training buddies.
Good luck!
For all the Americans getting interested there are forums where you can see if there's any training close to where you are.
Just google parkour + Boston, if you're in Boston, and so on. If you can't find anything try closest city that's a bit bigger.
Where can I train for Parkour in Colorado?
I spent ages once searching for a parkour club. Ages. I found one and everyone was nice, because they were newbies like me. But when I turned 14 they moved me to an older group, with people who were not noobs. They were cocky and so full of themselves. I had to leave. My dreams were crushed. I wish I had an opotunity like that ^
I wana learn Parjour.... but i think im a bit to young.... Can you do parkour at the age of....12? :3
Is a new door to the art of movement
start by watching videos learning the basics start learning in jim with your friends and then go outside and try it there good luck
Great stuff!
sebastian foucan is there ?
@everythinglauralikes WHERE!?!?!?!?!?!?
omg, I would sure really like this to be one of my schools Programs.
Way to go! :) Keep up the good work!
Parkour is so amazing.
when girls do parkour it shows that girls are capable of doing anything
Great idea!
I really want to do parkour but where i live you dont have obstacles and stuff
Parkour is one the best movement ever i really wish there were like organisations in malaysia..
i practice parkour to and freerunning(newbie in frerrunning)my girlfriend saw us doing parkour and she wanted to get involved now she's training with us day by day in school or parks thi is not the men's sport i think taht more girls should get involved
I loving this girls :)
I would've KILLED to be there.
Go Girls!!! Yeah! =] I want to try too...
@TheNirvanaChair i think she meant pushing like... you know you push yourself to achieve a goal? if that's wat she meant in this video but yeah not pushing away from parkour pushing them too motivate i think
No. I don't mean that women can't do sports. In fact, I've read at many places that once training, women are more dedicated than men, on average. I agree that some women are actually better than men, but most men are better than most women, so, what's your point? You think some stuff, but I KNOW that men can do more things, because of their superior strength.
It is a bit hard to find it in your area, but it uses your environment. so if you practice falling and rolling, you can start running, then add some of the jumps and climbing. start with little things like railings. then taller things like trash cans. Playgrounds are great places, because you know they are strong enough. but really anything works. Jumping into trees from a full speed run is great fun when you can jump well enough. You don't really need a teacher, just a will to learn
they did! :)
they dont know how lucky they are having an organiseation like generations near them. where i live theres nuthn like that. ive had to lern by wchin generations vids and reading about the techneques.
i wish to join da school one day :)
good luck
@tonyximus dude, its their first day, so what if they arnt good at doing something the first time. the fact is that they are out there doing it. they will improve. why dont i film u doing something for the first time and see if people dont say u suck.
@Epicztuber Haha, I sort of agree with this and I sort of don't?
I really reallyyyy agree on the determination part though :).
but, not only that I think the whole confidence and will and having fun also needs to be added :)
'cause I'm a girl and i think i'm doing quite while with starting off Parkour. though, i am afraid to fall and shizz but so far, I haven't fallen so that's good. but, If i do i bet i would just get back up again~
since, I find Parkour a hell of a lot fun to do~ :).
just find a area with low elements railings, benches, and other things less than six feet. And as you improve go bigger
what do these people have against the letter "t"
@everythinglauralikes
oh lol got my hopes up. Daniel is amazing tho!!!!
Can we do this in America? Im out of school now but still I would love to see more of this.
@fatcheese09 i thought he was the one in the background in the red shirt but now that i look again it doesnt really look like him.
You're kiding?... Where?
that was in England not America
@xipartyhardx
It does actually. :P
if you're in europe, look around - there are schools and stuff.
in you're in the US or something, you're pretty much out of luck. watch videos and mimic? but, be safe about it. there are tutorials and training videos up.
Cool Stuff! :D
good idea
I think you are missing the point
aww yay english girls so cute their accents aw :)
No, its not a combination. Parkour shows actions which can be considered a discipline. people think its looks like an art but its not....its a discipline
@chrisgrizle AGREED!
Yes, that's possible, but these girls are learning, parkour is an individual sport, copitition is not a good way to get better.
God, I wish there was something like this around here....
Everyone can parkour so long as they know how to adapt to their environment
it is an olympic sport, its called gymnatics
@unnamed715 What? There's one or two female instructors. Besides, why is that irony? They said it themselves the whole point was to get women to do it, meaning that mostly men do it.
Then why did you say it's a discipline but can be considered an art lol.... Okay fine you're right it's a discipline.
everywhere...just go out and train ,but in the philosophie of parkour ...thats improtant
ye age doesnt matter i started at 11 it was a bit dificult but i got it realy quick and now i learn acrobatic so try it
The girl at 1:06 "I'm not jumping!" lol
Come to missouri
Parkour should be mandatory in every schools P.E. program.
yah so cool parkour,,im creating our parkour
PLEASE COME TO PORTUGAL ! :D
whoa.... there's a parkour program?!
As long as a girl wears a proper sports bra she shouldn't have any problems. The main issue is body strength, which girls have to work alot harder for than guys. In order to get the same results, girls have to train & condition differently because of physical differences. However, girls are naturally more agile & flexible and can achieve better balance quicker than males because of their lower center of gravity. Female bodies can take more G's for the same reason, but thas a different topic =)
You don't need any equipment - why not just start?
@SyNFuLCreations very true, i know a few girls that can do way better muscle ups than me lol. But i beat them at flips at least, but it is wrong to think or encourage girls to think they can't do parkour, very wrong indeed.
Hell I want to practice this sport, I'm a girl but live in Mexico so, here there's not too many chances to practice it :(
OMG 5 OTHERS!
I guess it's a combination of both.
really !!! kool i can join
LOL i don't think they have Parkour in Guatemala (Latin America.... Not mexico)
I really want to do Parkour.
very cool :)
@sloaneVLOGS
I was only joking. Jeez, try not take everything so seriously. =P
The best thing about this is that it really encourages everyone; once you start doing it you'll gain confidence and lose that fear you have about doing it for the first time in front of people :)
