I just finished the book today... I couldn't put it down. What Tara Westover went through growing up in a "tough" family life is hard for some people to understand, but she fought through those barriers to become who she is, and that is what the definition of "tough" is.
EXTRAORDINARY book! it speaks to those who leave the security and comfort of family and friends (and the devil/dogma you know!) to explore the world without blinders.
I'm on the last 5 or 6 pages of this book and it is... I'm not sure I can find the word. It is almost otherworldly and powerful. This woman is more than tough as nails. She's as tough as a braided steel cable which is the only analogy I can think of. She has a drive in her to learn AND NOT deny her drive to learn but also to not be frightened by the truth. I think this woman is magnificent.

Couldn’t put the book down. Unbelievable story.
Same!

Leave it to a morning show to sugarcoat how harsh but incredible that book is.

I thank you for sharing your experience. Mss Tara I wish you write about estrangement as so many of us goes trough it painfully in silence.
So moving
Remarkable!
Where’s the movie ?
nice
How do you get into those universities without an education
In her book she explains the process. But it was a mixture on small steps and then big ones…
She said she was homeschooled

Don't the Mormons have their universities in Idaho? 🖐
There is BYU-Idaho but she wasn’t raised Mormon. She was raised in a breakoff sect
@@shareesamcmurdie2815 I think she went to BYU also.
Very sad. You have to write this book, instead of have peace and forgiveness towards your parents, and vice versa.
Read the book, she works really hard to be with her family, when it was really dangerous for her. They deny it, but I believe her.
