    I guess this is old news, but you sir are a life saver. Having the same problem, and like you tried all the lubrication solutions. But something didn't seem right as I kept seeing the strike mark on the wood but no nail, except once every 15 times or so. I checked and sure enough the brads I had were just not sliding through the opening smoothly, and like you it was catching on the head side. What I did was use a nail file to file down those channels. Took a few minutes, and bam, it is shooting 100%, at least for now. Just fired about 10 in a row, and that has not happened for a while. So now I can actually get back to the project I was working on (new ceiling for my attic). Better late than never so thanks for this post.

    I was fortunate to find your video after watching only three others that offered only basic information. Thanks for thinking out of the box and trying the fix. My brads were hanging up on the bottom part of the casting, not the top like yours. The guide was a bit too high so I filed it down flush (I inherited all my dad's files and I actually had one small enough). Now I can finish installing my quarter round! Thank you!!

    Thanks for this. After I saw your video, it made me focus on the brad nails themselves. What I noticed is that the head of the Porter Cable 1.75 "" brad nails was larger than the 2' nails. The 2" nails easily went through the channel and the Ryobi fired just fine. Conclusion. It wasn't the Ryobi, it appears to have been a defect in the head of the 1.75" brad nails (at least for my case).

    Thanks for this. I will definitely use it when the time comes. In my case, my nail gun was brand new and I have shot less than 20 nails out of it. I found a reference on another website that mentioned this can happen if the pressure is all the way up at max and this was the case for me. I dialed back the pressure and it is now working properly.

    I bought one these about a year ago, finally used it for the first time today, shot one brad, on the second shot I get a blinking white light?! Brand spanking new, and it craps out after one shot, this should have been recalled!! And my gun is a newer version of yours, and still sucks! Hope your trick works, or this will be my last Ryobi buy!

    I've been having the exact same issue - that's what lead me here doing a youtube search - i did the oil and wd40 on the piston in the past and that seems to have worked but its been a while since i used my ryobi until today - same issue, i oiled the hammer etc after taking it all apart and its fired 1 nail out of about 30 attempts, so i will look at what you did later and see if that solves the problem.

    I know this video is from a year ago but it came up on a search I did when I was having trouble with nails coming out. I realized I had bought 16 gauge nails instead of 18. I went back to Home Depot, bought 18 gauge and they work just fine. I think maybe this particular nail gun only takes 18 gauge.

    • @purv989
      @purv989  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried both 16 and 18 before modifying it. Neither would shoot with any consistency until I hollowed it out a bit.

    Is this a manufacturer deflects?
    Thx for the video, i found my nailer is a bit tight for the nails to feed, i was thinking is it due to the different nails size as i know its supposed to use 1.25 diameter, but some nails are 1.32, i am bot sure

    I wonder if there is ANY Ryobi nail-gun owner out there who is not having trouble with this tool? Mine is brand new but it will only fire one brad before the striker/hammer sticks inthe extended position and will not automatically retract up into into the cylinder. To fix, I have to open the jam-clearing hatch at the front and physically push the striker back into its housing using a screwdriver before the gun will fire again. And that is after using half a can of WD40 to lubricate the striker and cylinder!

    That way Ryobi can be aware of the problems their products are experiencing and make a design change or a fix.

    • @purv989
      @purv989  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there are literally dozens and dozens of videos like mine, all with the same issue. There are THOUSANDS of online reviews, all with the same issue. Pretty naive to think Ryobi aren’t aware of the issue. It would just cost more for them to fix the issue rather than keep the tool at the price it’s at.
