That has always been a handball until they changed the law last year to allow for such subjective judgements by the referee. Even under an egregiously poorly written handball rule they could have reviewed it and reached the right conclusion. I grew up playing and you couldn’t handle the ball without a stoppage in play none the less gain an advantage. Such a goal standing for anyone demonstrates the incompetence of the PGMOL and all the referees in allowing a goal that was caused by a handball. It’s not in line with the history of the game nor its ethos. The referee was wrong, the rule as written is wrong, and the VAR is wrong not to show it pitch side and make the referee look at it a second time and see if he wants to correct himself or double down on a wrong call. And it’s wrong on anyone to justify such blatant violation of the game.
Not had a chance to rewatch the build up to their first goal but at the time in the ground it looked like he brought his arm out and up before the inward motion that deflected the ball so definitely gave the impression he was making a deliberate attempt to block/deflect it. I was hoping ref watch would have shown it in full, but the camera angle they showed didn't have him really in shot until the ball made contact so annoyingly still not sure if original real time impression in front of me was correct
If Andy Madley had blown his whistle as soon as the ball was massively diverted by Joelinton’s hand and given handball, nobody on the Newcastle side would have protested and it probably wouldn’t even have been the subject of comment - which just goes to show that the incident had an adverse and unfair effect on the game.
Joelinton clattering into Bergval with his elbow was to soften the him up and let him know who is boss. Oldest trick in the book used it myself 40 years! 😂 Referee a total embarrassment and did not apply the laws of the game with Burn or Linton. Coote is not alone?
Nah man. That's a handball. It totally changed the direction of the ball, it's not like it brushed his hand. I thought it was worse than the Dan Burn one, personally.
From his position Andy Madley SHOULD have spotted the handball and SHOULD have stopped the game right there, and Chris Kavanagh opened a can of worms by not ruling that goal out. If having your arms by your side is all you need to get away from handball, we are going to see a lot more of this "unintentional" handball in matches. Wouldn't be surprised if they change the rules next season and Spurs once again become the last victim.
Regarding the two handball decisions. 1. Why does what happens next affect the decision, it's either handball or it isn't surely? The fact that Joe Linton didn't actually score is immaterial...? 2. Dan Burn made himself bigger with his arms. It is 100% deliberate if the ball hits him there.
Couldn't disagree more about their first goal. No its not intentional, yes his hand is in a natural position, but if the ball doesn't hit his hand it doesn't bounce directly to a newcastle player right outside our box. 1 pass away from Gordon being through on goal. Absolutely joke that it was allowed when such a clear advantage has been gained from a handball.
Have the rules changed regarding hand balls leading to goals because I’ve seen at least 4 goals disallowed last season where the ball hit a hand (accidentally) in the build up to a goal
Joelinton was trying to leave a mark on Bergvall with that challenge in the first half...he wasn't trying to go round Lucas, he was trying to go through him
1st . Joelington hand ball : The rule is the problem not the officials . The rule should be : if the ball hits the hand/arm and gives an advantage which leads to a goal accidental or deliberate it should be ruled out. No room for interpretation, clear and easy . 2nd dan burn hand ball : If you stop a counter attack by commiting a foul by either pulling a shirt or bringing down the attacking player with your legs a yellow card is given so why is hand balling it an exception ? Its ridiculous, this one is on the officials. Thats what ange is on about when he says "EVEN PLAYING FIELD". The problem with football is there is to much subjectivity with the current rules which leads to different interpretations and are officials have proven the are incapable of producing consistent decisions to similar situations. The rules need to eliminate as much interpretation and subjectivity as possible.
I dont get why he didnt start Maddison and Papa Mater Sarr as theyre both suspended for the Liverpool game and given how much better we were with them on the field they could have easily replaced either Johnson or Werner as neither of them did much anyway
Nah, cmon Lee. That's just a rubbish opinion. Understand that it's within the rulebook right NOW, but surely have a look at it afterwards as this is cheating. Handballs shouldn't be taken advantage of, ever.
What a stupid handball rule we have, how long has the game of football existed and this is where we are where a handball can take out a whole midfield and a RB and alllw a player to play the easiest through ball for a goal you’ll see. Where it’s accidental or not the game is called football not footandsometimeshandball.
Excuse my ignorance what rules are we talkiing about? So he goes to tackle or block the pass it hits is hand gives his side advantage and you 2 are talking about a good finish by gordon !! what get's me VAR can check a goal if a player is 1mm offside, but not look or tell ref to have look at this kind of incident.
Spurs very unlucky at the moment. I reckon keep Ange and sack 1/3 of its fan base - its big part of what holds the club back, stadium would still be filled every week - imagine spurs FC with a supportive fan base and a long term realistic outlook - no i can't imagine it either - maybe why 20 years of failure under Levy? he's taking the footy club and fans for a ride; you'll no doubt soon have a lovely hotel to go with your go cart track tho. Best of luck with it, don't worry about Ange he will do fine at many other clubs; failing at spurs, Levy FC Inc, is expected, not really a blemish on anyone's resume. Just ask Nuno or Conte or Mouinho or ... well you get the gist :)
Always kinda thought the non Ali and Rob guy had shit opinions just sounds like a pretentious guy trying to sound smarter by being a contrararian, made it real easy to turn the video off.

From what I've read it's possible Kinsky could replace Vicario as Spurs' number 1
Is Ali injured now?
Not a hand ball you’re joking !!
Maybe clean your glasses mate

He started sarr and maddison has been ill since the wolves game
We do not have even 1 fir CB, and you saying we have couple of weeks for transport. To figure what about, we know this 1 month ago, crazy shit...

Thanks guys, great 'cast but less honesty, more bias.....we are suffering enough! :)
