I've seen these tote boxes in action in Japan when I went there on vacation. It was at a train station 7-11 store. Their totes were a little bigger than yours. The advantage is not seen until you have 10 or more totes. The store had 20 and as they stocked the store these were broken down to almost nothing. What a space saver! The Japanese people really think about saving space. Thanks for your video.

One thing in particular to note is that Groove Garage is more of a hobbyist, anime company. So most of their boxes are anime references, but these in particular represent shipping containers of actual JR. Thats why you they are burgundy and blue; if you go to Japan or look at photos of JR shipping containers, they’re actually burgundy and blue! Those yellow stickers and arrow stickers represent the levers to open the container (also yellow) and the earth hugging train logo is also on real containers. That logo is the Eco Rail Mark, which is used to signify product travel by at least a specific percentage of rail, making it more eco-friendly than say, ships or other freight.
The only other Groove Garage boxes I found that is referencing real world is the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force folding box that references AGB-5003 Shirase, a Japanese ice breaker ship used in Antarctica. That box’s color scheme mimics the ship’s color scheme: bright orange and white, though the box uses grey instead.
The other box is N700s which is JR N700S Shinkansen, which references white and blue of the actual high speed train.

I loved these things when I lived in Japan, I wish I had brought more back with me. The basic ones without all the cool decals from trusco usually float around in the $12-15 area. Unfortunately, the shipping these days is like $40+ each. The closest I could find in usa are the instacrates at costco, but those aren't as strong and for some reason don't come with the lids despite instacrate making them with lids.

long ago I worked on a plastic factory in Japan, named Tenma. There I noticed most things they made were all in Ax paper sizes (A5, A4, A3, etc). So that should be it. The interconnection can happen because of the formats being A size related.
I guess these boxes originally were made to transport itens via train. So I guess this boxes can load small cargo, that goes from station to station and they are reusable.
I saw lots of orders from factories around there who made plastic boxes just to ship parts from factory to factory. and all are reusable - mostly have a derivate shape of a stackable pallet. and even the pallet is made of plastic.

That is interesting. I will have to look into the Ax sizing proportions more deeply. I had not though of that. Thank you.

Yes I saw those, but not on Amazon yet it seems. I have my eye on them. I may need to venture beyond amazon and try some other online vendors in Japan.

I like these boxes, they remind me of the eurobox system we get in europe, and i wonder if they are compatible in a way. Price is a bit steep, but it looks amazing.

Why exactly are these over 100 dollars us

They do go down in price from time to time but yeah these are expensive. I suspect the cost is somewhat because of licensing fees for the various trademarks.
