Because of her undeniable energy and stage presence in that show I appreciate an interview like this even if Sucker wasn't her best work in her opinion. She frigging nailed it that day. Her music isn't for everyone but I love the experimentation and self expression and the contrast from everything else in the charts. Sometimes I feel like such a minority because no one around me gets her!? This interview was so cool to watch, she seems so open, funny and actually a very intelligent person. Was nice to hear a longer interview with her rather than other short q+a videos, the interviewer asked really good questions

Thank you Charli for being the reason I sometimes do not shut off the radio.

OK, but can I just say that Charli CAME THRU with her new album in 2020??? Break The Rules was my jam in 3rd grade and now I’m a highschooler and I absolutely LOVE her new work. She did what other pop artists have tried and failed! Sorry, Gaga, Ariana, and Selena but if how i’m feeling now does NOT win an award, I’m suing someone! How I’m Feeling Now is the AOTY of 2020. I said what I said.
EDIT: I will re-edit this comment if Charli does not get nominated for a grammy and spew all of my anger on the internet. I'll use my worthy quarantine time to analyze some of the predicted albums for the Pop category specifically and see if they are really worthy of winning a grammy.
Lady Gaga: Now, don't get me wrong, I've been a little monster for quite some time before Chromatica. Born This Way, Joanne and Artpop are works of pop perfection. I was highly anticipating her new album this year and then we got singles like Stupid Love and Rain On Me... after listening to all of the album, I can say that Chromatica I is the only listenable track. All of the songs sound extremely similar to one another, lyrics are quite mediocre and the overall production sounds like it belongs to a 90s gay bar except it loops and is lazy as hell. My least favorite track (and the worst song I've heard this year) is 911. I don't know what went wrong but it did and I'm sad. If Chromatica wins anything, I'm mad. 0/10
Ariana: Thank U, Next was undoubtedly the best pop project of 2019. It was simply revolutionary. The emotions, her vocals, the lyrics, the production, the cohesiveness... TUN was extremely enjoyable compared to Sweetener which sounded mediocre at best. I was so proud of Ari and was looking forward to hearing what her new music would sound like, but then Positions came through and it gave me the same vibes I got from listening to the Charlie's Angels soundtrack. Very bad. Nothing special at all. I decided not to lose hope and listen to the full project with a clear mindset- but, nope. Nothing changed. It did not wake any emotion. The trap beats were terrible and sounded like Justin Bieber's singles he released this year (I'm not that tasteless to listen to Changes...). The only songs that actually stood out in my opinion are POV and My Hair. This album could easily have been lowered down to 10 tracks which would make it more cohesive. The lead single was weak, the dominant subject matter was sex and masturbation, the production was boring and Ari could have done so much better. 2/10
Dua Lipa: Future Nostalgia is such an improvement from Dua's debut. The album is full of amazing bangers. Cool, Physical, Levitating, Love Again, and Break My Heart are my favorites. Not as great as HIFN (which is a no-skip album) but FN is still a pretty great pop record! The production was great, the album didn't feel too long, the songs were dissimilar and it's the album to get up and dance to. I don't see a lot of flaws on this project. I wouldn't be mad if the album won a Grammy at all! 8.5/10
Katy: One of the worst albums to be released this year was Smile. You're supposed to grow as an artist, not put people to sleep with mediocre songwriting and boring as hell production. We've heard projects like this one countless. Times. On. The radio. This LP is nothing fresh or new. It's completely been done before. It doesn't belong in 2020. It simply just doesn't. Absolutely no track on this album stands out. Extremely repetitive and I don't even know what I was expecting after I heard the lead single. 0/10
Selena: To be very honest with you, I’ve never been a fan of Selena or her music but since it was the start of the year and I had absolutely nothing to do, I decided to give her a go with Rare. Yep, was not a good idea. I don’t know if it’s just me not being into her music or that her album is very bad, but I did not like Rare one bit. I don’t know if this is a reccuring theme in Selena’s discography but... her lyrics are extremely mediocre, super lazy and very loopy. It’s 2020, and I don’t think anyone would enjoy listening to these lyrics. “We used to be close but people can go to people you know to people you don’t”...? I cringed while typing THAT. Aside from the 1st grader lyrics, the album’s production does NOT save this album from being a dumpsterfire. Her voice is extremely autotuned, and VERY boring. Always stuck in the same range. You expect what to hear from her in the next songs. Plus, she uses autotune in the worst way. If you’re gonna autotune your voice, do it like my girl Charli. Take notes from her. And finally, considering she’s been through so much in the last 5 years, you would expect a record-breaking, iconic and GOOD body of work, but noooo... Rare is not good. At all. 0/10
Taylor: Now, folklore is definitely an album worthy of a grammy. And to think it was all written, produced and engineered in lockdown?! Extremely impressive. Taylor has never disappointed me (or anyone) with her lyrics. She’s simply a songwriting beast. On this album, Taylor demonstrates her amazing storytelling abilities on tracks like Cardigan, August, Betty and so on. I was so shook to realize that there was actually a bigger story going on. From the lyrics, you can tell that all of the songs are somewhat connected to one another and that’s simply amazing for a 16 track album. The overall production is breathtaking. It’s full of nostalgic yet calming acoustic sounds. I have a lot of favorites on this album, but tracks like Exile, My Tears Ricochet, Betty and Epiphany stand out the most. Illicit Affairs has a godlike bridge. The ONLY problem with this one would be that it would somehow lose its cohesiveness while halfway listening to the full work. If Taylor could have lowered it down to 14 tracks maximum, it would get a 10/10 from me. But for now, it’s a 9/10.
Rina Sawayama: Now, THIS is how you make your debut album! Miss Rina surely took her damn time with this awesome project. Rina serves pop, dance-pop, R&B, even nu-metal on this one! She has an amazing vocal range and she is using it in the best way. This album was extremely cohesive and very impressive in my opinion, since I hadn't heard any of her songs pre-SAWAYAMA. Dynasty is breathtakingly iconic. Comme Des Garçons??? Speechless. Chosen Family? Tear jerker. Bad Friend is the perfect song to shake your ass with tears falling down your eyes. This LP is full of anthems, nothing else. Songs are very diverse from one another and not a SINGLE track sounds the same as another (Looking at you, Gaga)! The lyrics were exceptionally great, the production was amazing and the overall concept of the album is well-put-together. Miss Rina deserves an award for this. Can't wait to hear more from her! 9/10.
Charli: She saved 2020 with an album she wrote, composed, produced and engineered under lockdown in about a month. One of the most cohesive projects I’ve heard in a LONG time. The songs are connected. The lyrics are stellar and super relatable. All of them are my favorites. I. See. No. Flaw. With this album. Oficially a Charli stan. AOTY. 10000... /10.
Don't attack me for my taste or opinion and stan Charli, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, FKA twigs, Grimes, Rina, Conan, Taylor, Weyes Blood, Tame Impala, Haim, Fiona, and Hayley to acquire great taste.
