Hello Felix, Great video and actually after watching this video I ordered a set of bearings as shown in the video. In real the just received bearings are not running as smoothly as yours. Do you have a tip to get them running like shown in the video? I already added a drop of "real" bearing oil but still not as smooth as in the video. Thanks.
@@FelixRijhnen1 Thanks Felix. I am still training on the ice but they will get their kilometers for sure starting end of next month. So they need actually first some kilometers and a clean? I will keep you informed.
Whoaa these bearings spin super smooth and fast!! I currently use the wicked freespin Abec 9 with my 4x110 matter wheel setup. But I think they don’t run as smooth as yours! I also tried spinning with different spacer sizes.😅
WD-40 only treats the surface, but does not lubricate it. The WD40 gets to the surface, displaces water and creates a thin oil film. After processing the surface with a mesh, the surface needs to be lubricated - the liquid has the property of evaporating. When it is necessary to tear off a stuck nut; to protect from moisture or preserve metal mechanisms and surfaces; to clean and disconnect rusty parts; to release jammed mechanisms - these are the areas of application of the WD40. So if u use WD40 for your bearings - its not good. Less life cylce.
If you have a small compressor available, a good method is to use an air nozzle to blow on the wheels to make them rotate very quickly after cleaning and oiling the bearings. You will immediately notice if any of the bearings are not okay, and I have noticed that the wheels actually roll better. (The german part by Chat GPT)
Thanks Felix, will get a sonic cleaner. I went out for a skate on a wet winter day and left them without drying them, the shock of finding every wheel seized 😖 stupid mistake
Nice tutorial, Yeah gotta admit the WD40 as lubricant in the end also suprised me :))) Do You have any tips for cleaning ceramic bearings? I mean do they need cleaning at all, I heard they just need to be blown with compressor...no lubricants or cleaners are needed.
Felix any hint for cleaning the bearings after a rainy marathon, when there is no place for it... take off the wheels, pover with oil, clean at home? :)
Hallo Felix, dein Video. Normalerweise nehme ich die Kugellager auseinander denn ich habe kein Ultra-cleaner. Viele Grüsse aus Brasilien und viel Erfolg immmer.

No, Felix, nooooo! Avoid to use WD40, it is not lubricant, it's detergent! There are plenty of good oils, make a favor for your bearings. By the way, an easy way to remove water from a bearing is to put it in isopropyl alcohol for a minute. Thanks for sharing your experience, I was looking about to use ultrasonic bath too, so it was super useful knowledge.
@@FelixRijhnen1 I'm OK with water and soap, cause some detergents are flammable or pretty costly. Right, it's important to remove water after cleaning, but it is not an issue. I'm just surprised you are allowed by Katharina to do that in the kitchen :)

Please don't use WD-40 for metal parts (it's only for cleaning). Ultimately, it would help if you used WD40 white lithium grease spray (for example) as a lube, it's also cheap and simple to use. Don't forget - "how to clean" it's not "how to clean and lube"

How much time do the sonic bath takes?
It depends very much on how dirty your bearings are. Sometimes you might get away with 10-15min - other times it can be easily double that time.
