Both Rosenthal and Bourdain have the best food/travel shows right now. They are genuinely interested in not only food, but culture and history as well. I love Rosenthal's enthusiasm and genuine respect for everyone he meets. His Skype sessions with is parents are especially sweet....wonderful folks and so heartwarming.
Oh, my! I just found out about 'Somebody feed Phil' today and binge watched it and after I watched that Tokyo episode from 'I'll have what Phil's having'! It was fabulous!
I just found this series a month ago. I've had Netflix forever but it wasn't for me, my husband and kids watched it. I found Phil. He brings so much joy to my day. He is so happy, humbled and just a delight to watch.
Phil is the PERFECT guy for a food show, trying to gain cultural understanding and tell a story. He's one of the most charismatic and disarming people you'd ever meet. The type of guy that you'd want to invite into your home 10 minutes after meeting him. After Bourdain left his world I didn't think I'd find another gem like him, thank god for Phil.
I totally agree! And the nice thing about Phil and his travel-food show is that Phil does not have the dark self-destructive quality that our dearly departed Anthony Bourdain had in his personality. It’s nice to see the enthusiastic, happy, and hilariously funny guy that is Phil Rosenthal!
Oh I love Phil. I love his show. It's already in its third season. And I love his parents too. They're both funny. I think he got his sense of humor from them. Sadly, his mother had passed away in October 2019 so she wasn't in the third season. I was sad when I learned about it.
One of the best shows on Netflix. I was watching the third season and on the first episode Phil's mom was missing from the Skype call. I googled and found out that she had passed away. It made me feel so so sad. His parents are the funniest and the nicest people I've seen. Absolutely genuine. It's my favorite show. Specially during this coronavirus situation it just takes me back the memory lane of all my travels. Watching Phill eat will soothe your soul and make you happy. Congratulations, great show.
I met him at the Grove (assuming he was making his way to the Farmers Market) and he is just as nice as he appears onscreen! Can't wait for season 2 of IHWPH
Phil is decent, kind, loves kids and old adults. That is the greatest thing! To Love them all and invite them into your life! Great language too! I can not compare him with anyone. I give credits to his brother as well. A great of team working together! I love you all! I ended up in Lisbon last fall because of you, Phil! I loved it although I never made it to all the attractions. A reason to go back. Thank you Jimmy for having him on your show!
Phil gets it. Bourdain had without a doubt the best food/travel show on TV, but with a completely different approach, Phil is able to create something unique. It's informative, it's candid, and it is funny. It's not about bizarre food, it's not only about fine dining; it's about an experience you can actually try to replicate. Phil isn't an amazing food connoisseur, which makes him quite relatable to most.
I love this man Phil Rosenthal, and I love his show! His humor is so unique, yes sometimes cringy, but that's what's unique about it. Everybody Loves Raymond is my favorite sitcom, also.
I just watched all of Season 2 in one sitting.. I love this show so much. As a world traveller and foodie, I can so relate to the joy of eating, sharing and meeting locals.. it opens your mind. Phil is so real and funny. I can't wait to season 3!!
I recently finished "Somebody Feed Phil", and shortly I will start all over again... I enjoy learning about the food, but Phil has such a sense of humor it's addictive....thanks for the video
Phil is adorable, hasn't lost his childlike enthusiasm. Plus I recognized Lake Street Drive and have to listen to the intro every episode because I love her voice. What a delightful show.
What is weird about him? Define weird? He is being his genuine self. A lot of people act so fake in order to impress people and I find that weird. He is trying to show us the world of food and culture and is being himself the whole way. I think that's beautiful. Keep it up Phil!
I love Phil Rosenthal. He is a genuinely kind human being, appreciative of the world around him, hungry for food and adventure, one of the funniest and endearing persons ever. If he lived near us, he would be our best friend!!! Feed Phil is a wonderful entertaining show that makes me laugh, nod, cry and curious. Thanks to Jimmy for giving him time to tell his interesting stories!!
Phil is the Thich Nhat Hahn of American comedy. I get exactly the same results with both, but with Phil my stomach moves up and down and my cheeks (on my face) get a workout.
Crazy to be attending the same college as Phil Rosenthal. I grew up on Everybody Loves Raymond, I never missed a rerun on TV Land. It was only until after I got accepted that I found out Phil also attended. It’s crazy how things come full circle
As a 100% Italian girl who grew up in her parents' deli, I can tell you there IS a difference. I for one, am not a fan of spaghetti, but LOVE linguine. Your dad has a right to stick to his guns - there is a difference!
I agree there is definitely a difference...but given how Phil describes his culinary upbringing, I bet his father did not know the difference...maybe never heard of linguine or was just being stubborn! Anyway..."whatever" the restaurant could have easily accommodated him.
This program is amazingly funny....Great host when he eats his expressions are like that of a little boy!! Great program!!love the end as well when he has his nightly conversation with his parents 😁
I just watched the newest season (5?) and unfortunately both of his parents are gone now. But he calls various comedians and they tell horrible old jokes in honor of his dad. A great segment. 😎
I only gave a thumb up because of 💗Phill Rosenthal💗 He's an LOVING, Gentle, Inteligent, heart warming, gastronomy enthusiastic and a Star. ...And Kimnel didn't use the opportunity of having a Wonderfully entertaining interview. ...Lame work. He didin't get Phill, cause hes hollow.
You should check out his Exporting Raymond documentary about how he is the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond and he shops the show in Russia. They just put it back on Netflix and is pretty great.
He’s so joyful and folksy. His wife’s maiden name is the same as my boyfriends. No relationship I’m sure. Anyway, I love Phil, I love his brother and his parents. This guy rocks.
I saw all episodes in one sitting.I want more..good for my depressed soul.
Me too
O yes!
He's just so happy it rubs off on you.
can't do it without salivating and feeling super hungry!
@honmatres1 So happy for you.

Ona Claney my heart is broken over Anthony Bourdain. I love Phil. He’s so self effacing and folksy and charming. I love his brother and his parents.
He always looks like he was just told there's gonna be ice cream. Chocolate, even.
New Message, he is like a little kid he gets so excited over everything xD Live his facial expressions
Lol he gets so excited
Exactly!!! He had the best smile, I just love him!
He’s a very funny and upbeat man. I love his show “Somebody Feed Phil”. It’s my new favorite show! ❤😂 🙌🏼
He seems like one of the nicest person ever
Love this. We were lucky to host Phil in our Tokyo home for I'll Have What Phil's Having on PBS. Nicest guy. So happy for the Lucky Bastard!

You can’t watch the show without smiling. Phil is one of the most positive, happy people ever and he absolutely motivated me to travel more.
