I started hockey about a year ago and I am already 14. You should make a video on how older beginners can excel with hockey skills and be prepared for the team expectations for their age.
Tip for shoulder bags: Put a drawstring bag or any small bag in you bag to make a "pocket" for tape, skate towels, screwdrivers, ect. Creates a small and cost-effective option for a pocket rather than spending the extra money!
+Hockey Tutorial in my traditional bag I put pool noodles cut in half and wrapped in duct tape of color over the noodle and it make it less painful in you shoulder
I use a regular carry bag but carry it on my back like a backpack. It allows me to get through small doorways etc easily and have both hands free. I also just use a plastic bag for all the small things (tape, wax etc) that I store inside my helmet. Then at least they're not spread out throughout the whole bag.
The Grit Tower Bags, now have a zipper pouch that comes fully off and is interchangeable. They offer an accessory bag and a cooler pouch. I am in the US, so not sure if this is offered everywhere!
It's always funny when younger people make fun of people for having backpacks or roller bags because it's "not cool" or non-traditional. The same as when they make fun of you for washing your gear because of "tradition". Once you get old enough, you don't care about things like that, just how practical and easy it is to carry. The Bauer backpack works great for me and has plenty of room for extra training gear (ie. pucks, cones, etc) but my shoulder carry had loads more room. The awkwardness and pain of carrying the shoulder bag made me change it out pretty quickly though. Your advice of doing what's best for you is excellent. I've learned a lot from your videos and appreciate all the effort. Much thanks from Chicago!
I put the gear into my bag in the order I will be putting it on. Jock and pants on the top; jersey, helmet, gloves etc on the bottom. It's a small-ish shoulder bag, not sure if it was even intended for hockey but fits all the gear just fine with a small bit of extra room, but since I don't carry anything extra and the fact I keep it well organized, it's fine for me.
Okay, as an adult, 38yr old, also playing collegiate D2 club hockey, I have, because it was a gift, a Vaughn Goalie roller bag which is just a pouch with a couple side zippers. I'm 6-1, 207lbs, and it's a game of Tetris to get all my gear in there. (36+2 pads) My 12yr old son, who's bag is determined by what I like and buy, has a Grit Tower Goalie bag. Personally, I love this bag, it stands up which frees up valuable floor space, plus no one is stepping in or on your bag as they're moving around, it's a mobile locker, and the material is tough and takes a beating at a rink which does have stairs and multiple floors, but no other means than the stairs to get up or down. (good times) I'm used to carrying everything on my back, as part of various ground combat element infantry type units with the US Marine Corps. From Scout Snipers, Recon, to regular 0300 Battalions in war/conflicts and peace time for 12yrs, I should have a PhD in carrying heavy stuff. I don't, because that's stupid, but I can summarize it like this. Carrying heavy stuff sucks. It doesn't make you more manly, or more Hockey than anyone else (yes, used Hockey as an adjective) by carrying your crap in, or being able to afford the roller bag.
My kid was the first on her team to have a Grit tower when we moved from the U.S. to Europe, and now half the team has them. I honestly have no idea how anybody can say that they clog up a locker room more than a carry bag. After 15 years of playing with a carry bag, they take up a huge amount of space on the locker room floor, it is impossible to keep them organized to find things, and they are difficult to haul around. If you have to haul team gear, yeah, maybe a carry bag is the best solution. But for your own gear, I wish I'd gotten a Grit tower like my kid's years ago.
Peter Geyer, i got a grit tower in camo as my second hockey bag. When i had half kit i had a carry bag and it weighed loads. I'm very happy with my tower bag as it's easier to take places and having it upright is pretty good for trams
I want the goalie bag for my new season im a player but carry a lot of stuff but i dont know if its right for me ive heard the roller ones the wheels are so low the bottom drags and rips but idk i just really dont want to carry my heavy equipment in my grandfathers offshore bag
there re also 2 "new" options. the tower SUMO (for golies) way bigger than the normal tower (cost too much imho) and then the Grit HP01 pod who look like a backpack, just more bigger... i use a backpack Warrior covert (only for the armour) plus a 2nd bag (clean clothings, jersey and stuff) and it work quite good.
We really wanted a Grit tower bag, but realized that it's rigid shape wouldn't allow us to stow it in the rear of our SUV with all the seats installed. We use a very large shoulder bag filled with equipment for me as Daddy Coach, my 6-year-old boy, and 5-year-old boy's gear combined. The bag is amorphous enough that I can stuff it well behind our 3rd row seats.
You forgot to mention the extreme pond hockey bag. Needing to hike into a pond to play. The back pack bag is most suitable as you need to carry a shovel along with you stick etc...
Some people get whatever they want regardless of what others think. You shouldn't live your life in fear of what other people will think. Just a little tip buddy.
I am starting to play and I am wondering Wethersfield u should start to play goalie. I have played goalie really well in street hockey with my brothers and cousins who also play. but I kick complete ass at face offs. then again not the fastest skater. what should I do?
honestly the best bag I've used so far is a Tackla Jamm bag. it has a GIANT main pocket and two huge side pockets. on the front it has skate pockets as well. it's light and it's affordable. if you want a nice bag on a budget, look for it.
Both my parents are paramedics so i use a paramedic bag but my equipment just barely fits my bag looks like it will explode and i need a new bag i was thinking about the reebok bag that has kind of like a shelf in it
I recognize that a wheel bad is easier for the individual but for the rest of your team they get in the way. As for the grit bag you can't step over them so again you're in the way. Maybe if you're on a 10 guy men's league team they're okay but not a 15-20 man roster. All that said, if you need to use public transit and walk long distances then I get the choice to go wheel bag. Also note that goalies should only use wheel bags in my opinion.
I don't get this. A Grit tower takes up a third of the floor space of a carry bag. I have played on enough senior teams consisting of people only using carry bags, and there typically isn't a square inch of space left to walk through the locker room without stepping on somebody's bag. At least with towers you can walk around them.
Peter Geyer you can't step over them. On the east coast of the US the locker rooms are to small to avoid them getting in the way. Maybe they work better in your rink. I guess it's also a tradition thing, pro, junior, and high end travel teams all don't use wheel bags. Particularly in the case of travel teams, they also take up more room the trunk of a car.
My daughter just bought the backpack bag , as she rides a motorbike , and it makes taking her kit to the rink easier , she adds a few extra straps to compress the bag a bit before she sets off ... :)
aevans692 and YOU'RE a dumbass parent. Who the fuck rides a bike with their hockey bag on the back of them, do you know how unsafe that is? I don't know if you ever played hockey but a hockey bag with full gear is heavy to carry like a backpack and where the hell does she put her stick
aevans692 I said a hockey bag weighs as much as her cause she's a stick and I recommended the Honda to her you fucking idiot, how are you even a parent you're a dumb fuck.
I used the grit tower bag when I was little it's good for little kids but when u get like 9 or 10 u should start using the carry bags. I liked the tower bag but I have the carry bag now
I used to have a tower bag but now that I'm older playing with better teams I have a carry bag with my teams logo on it along with everyone else on the team but I think carry bags are Eisner to carry around
Hey, you guys should do a video on defense. A lot of your videos are about stickhandling, skating, shooting etc. Just something like positioning or where do look for passes on breakouts would be really appreciated.
hi iv got a question about the grit hockey bag im a goalie ao the pads go on the outside but I travel abou three times a year what can I do to protect them from getting damaged from the flight and them throwing them around
+Hockey24 The tower bag is already a great hockey bag. If you were to upgrade something I would suggest is getting an oversized carry bag or a smaller carry bag with extra pockets on the sides. Warrior is a great brand for things like that.
+mychobbo Not really, just be ready to pay for an extra bag (for your hockey stick). We'd also recommend getting a stick bag or something to wrap your stick in before you fly with it. Do whatever you can to ensure your stick is padded and protected so it doesn't break in transit.
can you take your stick on public transport?? Just because you said that you can in the video and i have went to get on the bus with my stuff but i got turned away by the driver cos my stick could have been used as a "weapon".
Wow, at the place where I play almost everyone on my league, and all the other leagues have wheeled bags (except for me). Barely anyone has shoulder bags, so I stick out lol.
+XxMAJORx72xX Practice makes perfect and will also build confidence. The more you work at something, the easier and easier it becomes (after repetition). Grab some inlines if possible and practice away from the rink.
For me when I was learning feeling protected meaning I had all my gear on helped me gain confidence because I knew it wouldn't hurt if I fell on the ice. Another thing is don't think to much about what you are doing
Need help! I really want to start playing Ice Hockey, however my parents say it's too late for me to start playing it as I am 14. +Hayden Hewitt Thats a really good idea! We'll see what we can do. Thank you.
It's not a good idea
Hayden Hewitt you should fuckin quit if urjust starting now lol
You should quit your probably that fucking bender in a checking league that has no handles
Just skip youth hockey and go to beer league then it won't matter how good or bad you are
Tip for shoulder bags: Put a drawstring bag or any small bag in you bag to make a "pocket" for tape, skate towels, screwdrivers, ect. Creates a small and cost-effective option for a pocket rather than spending the extra money!
+Go Prism Great tip! Thank you for sharing it !
+Hockey Tutorial in my traditional bag I put pool noodles cut in half and wrapped in duct tape of color over the noodle and it make it less painful in you shoulder
I actually use a small skate bag that had a few extra compartments and put that in the corner of my bag
Great idea. I do the same with packing cubes. Keeps laces, towels, pucks, and tools in one convenient location
No wonder I'm not in the NHL. I've been using the wrong type of bag for decades.
I use a regular carry bag but carry it on my back like a backpack. It allows me to get through small doorways etc easily and have both hands free.

biggest face palm when he said that the grit tower bag is his favorit bag. but great vid!

Great video. Could you do a video on how to angle someone when you apply pressure on the forecheck ?
The grit bag is very good for goalies
i recommend grit bags to anyone that wants to get teased in the locker room
Some people get whatever they want regardless of what others think. You shouldn't live your life in fear of what other people will think. Just a little tip buddy.
coleycoley102 I didn't know people teased other players for their bags?!
That seems... Weird.
I have the tower bag and no one cares
SamLikesPlayz what level of hockey do you play? bantam and up usually everyone has a carry bag
i play midget hockey and no one really cares about bags
oh because i play bantam and if you have a tower bag people make fun of you, good thing a got a carry bag in peewee
I am starting to play and I am wondering Wethersfield u should start to play goalie. I have played goalie really well in street hockey with my brothers and cousins who also play. but I kick complete ass at face offs. then again not the fastest skater. what should I do?

any tips for plays you might recommend that the wingers and defense are really strong with
you are such a inspiration to me because of you I started playing ice hockey thanks
Abby Reid yea right

Wheel bags clog up locker rooms. Team rules for both the team I captain and I coach is no wheel bags except for the goalie.
That's a bad rule.

can you please make a video on goalie bags?

Tips for a 14 year old just starting hockey?
Abbie H quit hockey dubass
Quit
Squilliam Fancyson Why don’t you learn how to spell, you goddamn 12 year old
Just skip youth hockey and go to beer league then it won't matter how good or bad you are
Damn, why so much hate
I used the grit tower bag when I was little it's good for little kids but when u get like 9 or 10 u should start using the carry bags. I liked the tower bag but I have the carry bag now
A lot of senior players still use the tower bag. For some of us its about convenience rather than appearance.
I used to have a tower bag but now that I'm older playing with better teams I have a carry bag with my teams logo on it along with everyone else on the team but I think carry bags are Eisner to carry around
Allee Isley no shit they’re called CARRY bags
I'd like to see you build a drying rack from PVC pipe. Maybe compare it to other products that are purchasable.
Can you do an in the bag video
Can you do how to angle someone into the boards without the getting past you?
Don't stop moving your feet when going against them and put your stick to their stick and watch the chest
Ok thanks
Helps a lot! How can I make a good impression on a team I just joined?
+Jacob Paige Check out our Facebook page out facebook.com/Hockeytutorial we're working on that right now.
Hey, you guys should do a video on defense. A lot of your videos are about stickhandling, skating, shooting etc. Just something like positioning or where do look for passes on breakouts would be really appreciated.
+the Baziwka where *to look for passes.
Where I play hockey the backpack bag everywhere even 2 people on my team have one
hi iv got a question about the grit hockey bag im a goalie ao the pads go on the outside but I travel abou three times a year what can I do to protect them from getting damaged from the flight and them throwing them around
Keanu Nel ik its late but, they make grit goalie bags that protect the pads in front of the grit bag
I prefer the Backpack bag, I have one with wheels on it so I can roll it or I can carry it
there's also backpack bags with wheels
Does anyone have the pacific rink player bag? If so what do you think of it.
could you please do a video on how to buy first roller hockey equipment
+Abby Reid Very good idea! We'll work on it. Keep you eyes on our channel.
I have a grit tower bag, i am thinking about upgrading, but i dont know if i should. What are your thoughts?
+Hockey24 The tower bag is already a great hockey bag. If you were to upgrade something I would suggest is getting an oversized carry bag or a smaller carry bag with extra pockets on the sides. Warrior is a great brand for things like that.
Do the different type of steel. Ex. Step steel vs black edge vs ls4 vs ls3 and fusion and so on. They're are so many options
+HDCHITOWN Not a bad idea. I don't even think you can get black edge outside the U.S.A and Canada.
thats asham because it is amazing
You have the same shoulder guards as me!
I have a custom carrying bag with my last name and team logo on it with pockets for sock tape
you should do a video doing an on ice test and review of low, mid, and high end equipment :)
Wow another killer video. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
+Hockey Forever Thanks for watching it.
You missed the pisifik rink hockey bag
Is there anything in particular in need to do if im taking my hockey gear overseas to play with friends?
+mychobbo Not really, just be ready to pay for an extra bag (for your hockey stick). We'd also recommend getting a stick bag or something to wrap your stick in before you fly with it. Do whatever you can to ensure your stick is padded and protected so it doesn't break in transit.
+Hockey Tutorial thanks ^^
what would you recommend for Goalies?
Wheeled goalie sized bag. The goalie is the only guy who should have a wheel bag.
thanks man :)
U should do a video for skates
+Syndystries Good idea, more videos like this coming soon.
Txs hockey tutorial very helpful
I have to use a team bag and it is so hard to find my stuff in the middle part
get a draw string bag and throw that in the bag so u can use it as a makeshift pocket
can you take your stick on public transport?? Just because you said that you can in the video and i have went to get on the bus with my stuff but i got turned away by the driver cos my stick could have been used as a "weapon".
+MajorInk5615 We'd one this on multiple occasions without an issue. Perhaps you had a mean driver.
Hockey Tutorial yeah probably
nice to see you in Leh :)
+mustu abdu It was great! the video for Ice Hockey in India will be out on Monday!
Wow, at the place where I play almost everyone on my league, and all the other leagues have wheeled bags (except for me). Barely anyone has shoulder bags, so I stick out lol.
+craftyforever101 Interesting how teams are so different. Thats cool.
Hi everyone, weird question. How can I gain confidence on the ice? I'm learning to skate, thanks
+XxMAJORx72xX Practice makes perfect and will also build confidence. The more you work at something, the easier and easier it becomes (after repetition). Grab some inlines if possible and practice away from the rink.

Just don’t play you’re too old bud
The bag is awesome
I have a backpack bag with wheels
I have a wheeled backpack bag :D
See how many slapshots it takes to break a bowling pin
thanks
I'm a recreational skater and I just bring my phone, money, my skates and skate guards. How should I bring them? Should I carry them by the blade? Use a bag? Something easy and convenient please
I think u should buy a sports bag, they are slightly smaller than the small hockey bag. I go skating with my skates inside (skate guards on) and i have gloves or anything else inside.
+AnsonSnipes86 oh thanks! Any brand recommendations?
Zwinky Max just pick up whatever is on sale at a local sports store because they all work so don't spend extra money
rbz 150 hockey bag
you're that guy in the dressing room that is proud of arriving to the rink with your wheels.
goalie bags
I started hockey three years ago I am a legend a sniper and I am only ten years old I scored a between the legs goal top cheese my goalie is a hybrid I live in Canada I am on kc
EVERYTHING GAMING you probably only play nhl video games u might wanna change ur fucking username bud
Jacob Boudreau that’s so rude why does everyone feel the need to be so horrible
Bud, between the legs goals are easy if you just practice and drill yourself at home but you seem good for being 10
Lol
That's the bag I have
I'm not saying hate FYI... Great video tho
Don't forget a goalie bag
bruh it took me like 5 mins to learn how to pack a bag, iv never forgot me shit ever lol
dauber
compare a $20 stick to a $100 stick
20 is a street or bad wooden stick, $100 is a mid tier composite or ice hockey stick
Grit toolbox
Bag just needs to fit your beer. The rest is just optional
If your bag has wheels. You don't. edit I said it before you did. lol
Psshh I use a duffel bag
why man
+huangitangxxx39 huang cus I'm cheap like that and hey it works it fits all my stuff
ThatOneGeek bruh
wheel bags pffftt
Compare a 25$ stick to a 50$ stick next video
A $25 stick is a street or wood hockey stick. A $50 stick would be a low tier composite stick
hockey bags shouldn't have wheels!
+BoredAtWork2000 and yet they do..
It's like a duffle bag that's organized
Sry but any non-recreational hockey player above the age of 8 should have a carry bag/shoulder bag.
+Loco Lucas Gaming That is a very closed minded opinion but you're entitled to have it.
I've seen kids like that having trouble carrying it. I even saw a kid fall once from all the weight.
