    Wow, like you said, the drums really bring out that crazy 7 vs 4 feel. Awesome!

      Definitely a big fun part of learning some of these songs is discovering some of these hidden nuggets buried in the arrangements, I actually didn't notice the 7 until I started breaking down how to play that melody! Thanks!

    Loved this version of "Dracula's Theme" from SCV4. That King Crimson vibe was the perfect choice for a sinister track like Dracula's Theme, Thank's for covering one of my favorite SCVIV track's dude, Hope you make more CastleVania covers in the future 😎🤘.

      @@thesosomusician Don't mention it. There are many cover / remixe's of Theme of Dracula (Super CastleVania IV), I'm glad you had a blast remaking Dracula's Theme. It's a fun challenge to remix / cover music including VGM remixe's, But this is still a great cover of that track, Again, Thank's and I'll see you soon 😊🖐.

      I didn't even realize how bananas this song is until I started learning the organ part on guitar, so many seemingly random modulations! Although I do wonder if it makes more sense on keyboards. Anyway, thanks, alot of work but a really fun song to play!

    • @JoolsGuitar
      @JoolsGuitar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thesosomusician it has no sense on keyboards either. It reminds me of some things I used to do on guitar pro, typing numbers on a grid.
      Anyway I'll be studying your version hoping to get the feel of that weird ass grove at some point

    • @thesosomusician
      @thesosomusician ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha, it figures it's just as rough on keys! It did help me a little when I realized the song was in 7/4, in 4/4 the groupings made even less sense! After that though, just raw memorization

      @@thesosomusicianhow did you do the transcription, you wrote everything or you just played it by ear?

    • @thesosomusician
      @thesosomusician 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This tune I found a transcription on ultimate guitar that was pretty close to being accurate, and then I added a bass line and drum part to kind of glue the whole thing into the way I do vgmusic covers. The Forest of Monsters tune I had actually found a midi someone had made of the song that was very accurate, and I transcribed that for guitar. That's also on ultimate guitar, my transcriptions are under Orbital Frame over there.
      I do occasionally figure out sections of songs by ear, particularly bass since it's not usually transcribed as well as guitars, but I try to transcribe source material when it exists. NES soundtracks I read the .nsf files and transcribe from those, very nice that the songs are actually encoded into the NES!

  • @georgexile

    you nailed the guitar sound! what are you using and can i make it work on POD X3?

    • @thesosomusician
      @thesosomusician 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The guitar is a Fender Cybertwin guitar amp mic'd up with a sm57 mic pointed right on the edge of the dust cap. Effects are just minor EQ, slight compression, saturation and reverb on the main guitar, and slight delay on the echo guitar. Guitar was double tracked. I think the guitar amp and mic are the most important elements in the signal chain, that amp basically just sounds like that.

    Não gostei. Essa música deve ser sempre orquestrada. Cagou

    • @thesosomusician
      @thesosomusician ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you think is missing from the orchestration, there's a spot or two where a keyboard patch is buried in the mix, but that's pretty much the song.

      @@thesosomusician Sim, mas essa música de Yuzo Koshiro definitivamente não combina com bateria e guitarra. Ela foi composta para ser orquestrada e não há teclado no mundo que substituia uma orquestra sinfônica ou filarmônica. Desculpa, mas não gostei. Boa sorte

      That's a fair criticism, but also in fairness the original song is performed on a 16 bit videogame console, and I'm covering it in my basement sans full orchestra budget! ;-p There's definitely some full blown symphonic performances on the YT, highly recommended. Cheers!

    • @Wolfgang_4
      @Wolfgang_4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thesosomusician pois bem, como disse, embora a música original tenha sido reproduzida em um console de 16 bits, a ideia de Koshiro seria que essa música fosse tocada em uma orquestra e não por uma banda. Claro qua isso não significa que cada pessoa não possa tocá-la até mesmo usando um banjo, porém existem pessoas, que como eu, podem não achar legal.
      Enfim, aprecio a homenagem à Yuzo Koshiro. Boa sorte!

      Definitely agree there. One of the best ways, imho, to experience and learn what a composer does is to learn a composition. My channel is all about learning songs (and now sound engineering too!) to grow as a musician, maybe one day I'll be working with an orchestra if I keep rolling up my sleeves! Not everyone's going to like my works in progress, which is fine, but it's a means to an end for me to keep growing as a musician. All the best!
